Radar detectors are still legal in every part of the US with the exception of Virginia and Washington, D.C.

You've persuaded me to take it Ward !
is your orange car about ?

Over here you can happly cruise on highways at around 85mph with everyone else
and not worry to much about the police, max speed limit is 70.
In general we have good police traffic attitudes as long as you arent wreckless, or doing crazy speeds the police seem to give just a verbal warning for speeding

Anybody using the BEL Pilot? Several reviews indicate it is better than the V1 and the price is competitive. I have to do something, the local 5-O has a *** going to see who writes me a ticket first......... :)

I use the Bel RX65. I consistently tests better than V1. It also has many more features than the V1. With that said, however, I must truthfully report that there are some users who say that Beltronics units have a tendency to break. Sometimes the units have to be sent back to the manufacturer for calibration. If you look at radar test.com, I believe that you will get the full story from actual users. To that end, however, users have been able to get around the problems encountered with the "Calibration error" of the units and they have been performing well. I am often amazed at how many people think that the V1 units are better just because they cost more. It is simply not the case.
