I recently installed Gen III valve covers on my 97 GTS using the 1 inch aluminum spacers. The valve covers did not have the baffle plates in them. If this a potential oiling problem or they mainly for noise reduction? :usa:

I took my baffles out this week. The T&D's were bumping up against them. The passenger side baffle was fractured in 3 places and preparing to fall apart on top of the rockers. I have been told that it there is no oiling degradation when the baffles are removed by two viper techs. I capped the breather vents on the front of the valve covers and installed a puke tank.

Your engine looks very sharp! You should look into getting the mesh socks to go over your plug wires where they connect to your spark plugs. They are functional and attractive. That would be a finishing touch on a very nice engine bay. They come in silver, red and blue colors. I bought mine from Jon B.

Look forward to meeting you sometime, have you thought of attending a track day at Motorsport Ranch?

Thanks for the info Newt. I'll check with JonB on the mesh socks. I'm not really set up for the track, still getting used to the blower torque in a straight line. :usa:

I bought the Roe kit from Scott at Elite of Tampa. The chrome was included in the kit, great deal. :usa:

You will have a potential problem if you are running your vent tubes into your induction system, you will be inducting oil at wot.Anyone that needs a photo of the template we use to properly modify the baffles, send me an email at [email protected]

I'm getting way too much oil coming out of the oil cap without the baffles. Does anyone know where I can get a set of baffles for Gen III valve covers? Thanks :usa:

I know some are not going to like this, however, there is an easy way around the T&D/baffle problem. Put the covers on with four screws on the corners. Thread in the screws with the screw heads about 1/4" above the cover. Start the car let it run for about ten seconds. Remove the covers and you will see the baffles are now marked where the rockers interfered. Take a small [******] punch and gently hit the interference points. It is crude, however, it works and is not going to hurt anything. The baffles are light gauge and they deflect easy.

I had a similar problem. I bent up a small piece of sheetmetal to form a little baffle inside the valve cover and blocking direct flow into the vent. It's plenty to allow pressure equalization, but as oil mist hits it, oil condenses and falls back inside the valve cover.
