Depends on the answer to the question. It seems logical that a slick is a slick is a slick? But one nevers knows? Hoosier or Michelin. The CC come with a Hoosier slick so what would be the logic to not allow it in unlimited? Yes I have Hoosiers and no Michelin's.

The logic is that Michelin is the sponsor of the "Michelin Challenge Series". That would include Unlimited.

Previously, a slick was not available from Michelin so Hoosier DOT tires were allowed in Unlimited.

The Hoosier slick is the required tire in the Viper Racing League as Hoosier is sponsoring that event. Check with Courtney but I believe that is correct. Hope you can attend Fred.

I understand the racing sponsor deal but the open track seems open? I do not care about a trophy(I am to slow), just want times so I can see improvement and be on grid in a slot that minimizes passing.

The CC comes with the Hoosier slick. The street Viper has always been on Michelin. It seems that either tire manufacture could be used(if excluded from points race) as both companies work with DC and Viper Days.

Fred do you really think that Skip & Viper Days would turn away your $ 700.00 because your driving on Hoosiers? I highly doubt it. Attend the event, drive your CC & most important be safe & have lots of fun.

Come on down Fred, I am sure you can run. You may not receive points, but so what! Hey maybe your tires will be Grand fathered in?
There is supposed to be a race with just Radicals.(?)

Hi Fred,

Again, check with Courtney, but you can certainly run for all three days. You just aren't eligible to win trophies in the Michelin Challenge Series if you don't use their tires.

The Friday session is organized and run by the track, not Viperdays, and is something you will have to arrange through them, but as long as you meet their requirements, you can run any tire you want.

You will still enjoy all of the instruction, track time, and fun, but in the end you'll have to settle for "moral victories" instead of trophies. No reason not to come!

Hi Sonny,

I plan on two days(Sat&Sun). Going to Maui this week will be back on the 17th late so not much time to get a little office time in unpack and re-pack for weekend.

I am sure Courtney/Skip will deal with the situation without a drama. It is a timed open track day for me and that is it. If they want to include me in the points no big deal as I am pretty slow.

See Ya there!

Just to clarify, the Hoosier R3S04's cannot be run in the unlimited class (timed event) They are only allowed in wheel to wheel racing. If you have any questions about the tires, give me a call, as we will be a major Hoosier tire provider at the event.
Thanks,
Forrest

Let's clarify. If you are running a Comp Coupe in the Challenge Series Comp Coupe Unlimited class then you run with the tires that come on the car. If you are running Hoosiers on any other car you are not invloved in the points for the Michelin Challenge Series. You are more then welcome to come and drive on any tire and we will still get your times and grid you according to you time. Hope this makes it clear. If you have additional questions or comments pelase feel free to e mail me at [email protected] or call me at 847-594-8477 and ask for Courtney.

Hope to see you all at the track!

A Canadian driver, very good, "AJ" (?). He was driving an apple, and everyone else was driving oranges!

His P-car weighs like 2800 pounds, very light, with big rubber on all four corners. Not taking anything away from him, he was a very good driver, in a well-sorted-out car.

After some debate, we think its this car

But don't forget that Eric Messley set the fastest lap of the weekend in the Viper Competition Coupe, with a 1:54, and no one came near that on either day, as far as I know. Except John Dearing, also in a Competition Coupe, with a 1:57. Not too shabby!

In Sunday's race, Eric Messley had a huge, huge lead in the Comp Coupe, and if he could keep the pace up, there was no way anyone could catch him. He was running so far out in front, it must have been lonely! Until the back markers came up!

But then his tires started going away, and AJ and Dearing caught him by a couple of seconds a lap, and his huge margin got whittled away lap by lap. The other guys didn't get any faster, but Eric couldn't help but go slower as the tires faded.

Next time, they have resolved to go with new rubber all around, and not mess around!

I believe he's California-based, and his name is Albert Loredo.

GT2-R is the car's PCA racing class, not the model of the car. It appears to be a 993RSR, which has a 3.8-liter normally-aspirated motor (with maybe 350-400 hp?).

The Porsche's shop guy posted an answer, finally:

"I am impressed with the way you guys figured out who was racing at this Viper Days Race. The driver's name is Albert Loredo (aka rikki tikki tavi or aka tha mongoose). He was three seconds a lap faster than any other car during the race, he also had the fastest lap time of the race. The car is a 1998 933 RSR, sprint motor, with a EVO 2 Carbon fiber body, 3.8 liters, with 356 rear wheel horsepower on a dyno jet dyno. He had a total of 27 minutes of practice time due to rain and still made his MOM proud."

Eric Messley, in the Viper Competition Coupe, set a blistering 1:54 on Saturday. Was the Porsche faster than that?

No. Not based on what I read.

But the shop guy is only talking about during the race itself.
