I understand that there is a possibility that the Viper Club may hold the Viper Day at the Autobahn. ACC has tentatively penciled in 2 weekends for Viper Days, so if you are interested in driving at the ACC you check out the web site. I can personally tell you it is the nicest race tracks in the Midwest. It is a beautiful facility with everything a driver or enthusiast could dream of. The track is so smooth and very for giving with plenty of runoffs for any driver to feel comfortable. The curbs on the tracks are the best that I have driven on. I know if anyone drives or races there that will want to come back because the landscaping is so beautiful.

We were out there tracking the Modena on Wednesday it was great, it is too bad the season is coming to an end. Can't wait for the spring, I will be out there ever week.

Butch,
Contact Skip Thomas at 847 594 8477 to discuss a Viper Days date. I think the 2005 schedule is getting firm, so if you want a Viper Days event there, time is short.

If you are working with the Illinois club, then that is a different group, i.e. NOT ViperDays - promoter of the Michelin Challenge Series and Viper Racing League.

ViperDays =! Viper Club / VCA

Thanks Janni

I did not want to mention Skip Thomas, but he was the one that contacted us at the ACC. Like I said the ACC has penciled in 2 weekends for Viper Days.

I have also talk to Tom Sapiaro from Illnois Viper Club he did not seem to interested...

What gives with that? I have tried to give them info on events in the area with my dealership and privately, no cost to them but they only seem to want to do things that they come up with.

Wayland, I'm always interested in a track in our backyard. Cost is an issue. We just bought new timing equipment last year which put a nice dent in our cash position. I've already booked next year's events. However, I've talked to another IL VCA member, who belongs to ACC, and we might try and do a week day event there next year. I never rule anything out. We try and keep our season cost as low as possible for IL VCA members. ACC isn't cheap at $7,000 a day for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I don't know if that includes corner workers and an ambulance or not. Do you know? On the plus side, drivers would save hotel costs going up to Gingerman helping to offset the increased cost of ACC.
Hey tommygun, next year if you want to sponsor a day at ACC for the IL VCA race group, I know we could get plenty of drivers to participate! And it would be your idea!

Hello Tom

Yes, I think you would get more drivers to participate if the events were at ACC, it is so close to all of us. Plus the facility is so nice, I know that the cost may be a factor but you would get a lot more in return.

I can tell you the how many car clubs are going to use the track next year, the SCCA is going to hold a regional race there. You have the BMW club, Porsche club three different motorcycle clubs. Skip Barber is holding a school there, Mercedes, Mazda have reserved weekends there for their corporate events. So even a week day like you said would work out great. If you needed I am one the instructors at the ACC and would be glad to help any way possible.

Thanks
Butch

Hello Chuck

On Wednesday the first half of the day we were running the South track, after lunch we ran the North track for an hour. At that point we combined both tracks and ran the full course, it was a thrill to be the first to run the full course. It was a real challenge to run the full 3.5 mile course, I will be looking forward to running next year with the GT-3 or possibly a Comp Coupe. Those cars should tear up the course.
