Yes you heard it , or that is what I was told by some know it all at the CF:rolleyes: why do people talk about things they know nothing about?

Actually it started life as a small block Chrysler with 2 more cylinders added..........

some know-it-alls aren't always wrong either. I wouldn't classify the Viper as a "big block". More like a longer small-block, since the block itself isn't nearly as huge/heavy as the old musclecar bigblocks.

Cubes do not define big block vs small block, those are descriptions from physical dimensions, which also dictated the size of the heads. Viper engines are just stretched longitudinally due to the extra two cylinders, but their features are similar to any other small block.

Yeah, it definitely doesn't sound like a big block either. I often describe the sound of the Viper revving up as being like 4 trash trucks on nitrous. in fact sometimes driving slowly around it feels like a truck motor. Just my random input.

How about calling it a long block:D

Big block died in 72, just doesn't sound cool in anything later than that.
