This will be the car to beat in SS, and the only problem will be for folks who have modified their Snakes to go back to a Stock configuration. The car, even among the faithful, is seen as not being an effective Autocross car. This is very far from the truth, and the perception that the Viper is just too heavy and too wide is all in folks minds. The E Street Prepared Class has been dominated by Camaros and Mustangs for years, and they both weigh nore than a Viper. Though the Mustang is not as wide the Camaro/Firebird is very close. The advantage in Super Stock , with SCCA rules, is that you can use a K&N air filter, but no smooth tubes. You can use a cat-back system with no penalty, and though you can't change brakes, you can do more aggressive pads. The big advantage is that you can run HOOSIERS or KUMHOS in the class. The caution to owners will be to read the rules carefully, as Snakes will come under heavy scrutinizing, as they will dominate. Alignment is critical, but things like smooth tubes, high-flow cats, computers, etc. are deemed illegal. Even innocous
aftermarket items like a pre-oil warmer will be object to protest, and you will lose. The rules are very rigid, yet the openings for performance are better than in other areas. Tires ( Hoosiers, etc ) make a tremendous difference, and though ACR's are banned and will stay in A Street Prepared, it is somewhat ludicrous as shocks are an allowable change - though springs are not. An ABS Viper will probably win Nationals next year, and if you are thinking of campaigning one, please feel free to call me in order that you don't run into pitfalls prior to competing.

PS- 315 Hoosiers will fit on the front of stock rims ( aftermarket rims MUST be within 1/4 of factory offset, and the same exact size for the model year specs ) and with 335's on the rear this is one hell of a hook-up.
