Viper Top Speed

I saw on the cover of a Motor Trend issue a ferrari 550, a Corvette, a silver Viper and some other cars, I think the story was named "Top Speed Shootout" or something like that. I saw the cover on MT TV, Just wanted to know the results of the shootout, if someone here has the issue. Thanks.

I think the Viper hit 186 in that issue. In a previous issue a GTS topped out at 192.

i went 180 mph in my viper (2001 acr) back when it was bone stock. i did this in 5th gear. the viper has 6 gears. i was taching 5,500-6,000 rpms. i acheived this speed from a complete stop in less than 1 mile.

Don't count on the 6th gear to get you any faster. How did the car feel at 180?

viper feels planted and well connected at 180 mph. i drove a 1997 corvette at 165 mph and it felt light and floaty.
