SGS REGULATIONS



General Class Explanation and Purpose


Super Grand Sport (SGS) is based directly on the 2003 GS I Street Stock Category automobile regulations designed to encourage the development of competition vehicles built from series produced production vehicles.

SGS will compete as a separate class in the 2004 Rolex Sports Car Series with separate driver and manufacturer championships.



SECTION 1 - APPROVED MODELS
1-1 Approved Models - Grand American has developed these specifications for competition automobiles that will participate in the category titled "SGS". Cars must have been in production for road use/or meet homologation criteria, and have been/or be for sale to the public in a regular dealer offering. A Manufacturer or Tuner must present their automobile before being approved.

1-2 The following cars are recognized as eligible models

2-2.9 Grand American Spec Crawford rear wing (reference CAR BODY REQUIREMENTS section of the GT regulations) is allowed installed on the rear deck no higher then the roofline and cannot extend beyond the rear bodywork.
2-2.10 Air Jacks are permitted

2-3.5 Inlet air restrictors 2 required at 55mm.
2-3.6 Upper control arms and rear toe link mounts are allowed to be reinforced.

2-4.6 Grand American Spec Crawford rear wing (reference CAR BODY REQUIREMENTS section of the GT regulations) is allowed installed on the rear deck no higher then the roofline and cannot extend beyond the rear bodywork.
2-4.7 Air jacks are permitted.

2-5.2 Fuel Capacity - 25.0
2-5.3 Minimum Weight - 2600
2-5.4 Exempt from minimum production rule.
2-5.5 Tire size: 245/40/18 front, 305/30/18 rear wet and dry.
2-5.6 Engine and ECU must be sealed by Porsche Motorsports NA.
2-5.7 Must replace OEM centerlock wheel hubs with 5-stud hubs.
2-5.8 The rear upper and lower tow links may be changed to spherical ends.
2-5.9 Brakes - Allowed brake pad/rotor maximum stack height: TBD. Allowed two-piece four-piston caliper: TBD.

SECTION 3 - CAR PREPARATION
3-1 Car preparation is per the 2004 Grand Am Cup regulations along with the specific modifications allowed in Section 2 above.


SECTION 4 - TIRES
4-1 Official Tire - The official tire brand for the 2004 Rolex SGS class is Hoosier. The spec tire for SGS is the Hoosier "SGS" radial slick. No other tire may be used. Contact: Hoosier Racing Tire (574) 784-3152.

The final drive (stock 3.07) and 55 mm inlet restrictors along with the weight disadvantage will make it difficult.
