Still going for Colorado , and alot has to do with the weather. Good chance we could all go sometime in the Summer, which would probably allow alot more folks to attend, whereas Vegas and Dallas would not be areas I would want to be during the Summer months. Denver/Colorado Springs, still have all the emenities, and driving the Rockies in the Summer or Early Fall is unbelievably beautiful.

Hey Bill. Colorado is close to Omaha/Blair. Short ride for the midwest guys and gals. The summer weather can be hot in Colorado but nothing like we experienced in St. Louis in August. That was a sweat box. Nice hotel and track but OH THE HEAT! I still think Vegas is the best location. Jon B's comments are very correct. Easy and cheap to get to, lots of hotel rooms, great track and lots of extra entertainment.

Colorado Springs is not workable. I tried to get some information to feed back the Colorado chapter and spent some time talking to the convention board. I asked for hotel rates in the $135 plus/minus range. The Broadmoore wouldn't come down that low, even in the off season. There are some other nice hotels that were eager to host, but number of rooms was around 250 to 300, so in all probability split between two hotels. Pikes Peak International Raceway was ready to rent the track. The real problem was banquet facilities. Colorado Springs has no convention center and the biggest space could accomodate maybe 1000 sit-down diners at the most. There is talk about building a convention center but that's probably 4 or 5 years away. Maybe try again two VOIs from now. Well, I gave it a shot.

I don't know the complete history of VOIs, but believe that the following order occurred:

VOI3 - Indy
VOI4 - Sebring (Florida?)
VOI5 - Las Vegas
VOI6 - St. Louis
VOI7 - Nashville

One might look at the trend and say VOIs have covered the middle-west to east coast in the past 5 years. From that, I believe the next is definitely going west. My guess, probably west of Las Vegas.

Cal--i--for--nia, here we come. (sing along)

(IMO, and hope, Colorado Springs is another good possibility.)

Filling in the Blanks:

VOI.1 - Detroit, MI (Best in terms of neat Viper stuff...)
VOI.2 - Monterey, CA (FREE hard top!!!)
VOI.3 - Indinapolis, IN (Rainfest)
VOI.4 - Disney/Sebring , FL (Great Food!!)
VOI.5 - Las Vegas, NV (Party!)
VOI.6 - St. Louis, MO (good track , fun street party and fire works display)
VOI.7 - Nashville, TN (Well "Rounded")
VOI.8 - ???????????? - I vote CO.

LOL
Gary, I can't believe a fellow Floridian is complaining about Midwest humidity. Is Orlando humidity so much more mild than Tampa?

With the southeast roundevous coming to an end, can we expect an offical word on VOI 8 real soon?

Please have it be somewhat close to the west coast?

How about a Dual VOI, with track time competitions from East to West? We could simulcast our events and video conference our talks at the dinners? As long as the eastern part is close to NYC.

After this last weekend, I would have to agree that Atlanta would be a good spot. The hotel that Pete set up (forgot the name) is ultra posh, reasonably priced and very close to Road Atlanta. Just a thought.

Was it the one by the winery owned by the same fellow that owns Road Atlanta?

5 of the 7 VOI's have been a bit of a trip for those of us on the left coast. I say it's time for Vegas again. If it's not Vegas then I would vote for Texas or Phoenix.

I'll be there no matter where it is.

Frank:
As long as you want to go that far, I vote for the J.V. Mall parking lot in Cortlandt Manor, NY.

Actually, that Banquet 400 race in Kansas this past weekend looked good.

For that matter, nobody ever brings up Miami. We have a zillion hotels on Miami Beach that could handle the group, two great race tracks closeby and enough women, beaches, and clubs to keep the entire group happy.

Oksy , heck if Colorado Springs is out, we could do it at the new Convention Center in Omaha, the Casinos are across the river, there is a super safe 2.23 mile road course and 1/8 th mile drag strip about 15 miles south. Downtown has an Old Market area with quaint boutiques, great restaurants, and quite a few good bars. The city boasts one of the top 5 Zoos in the World, with an indown Rain Forest, the largest Indoor Desert in the World, aquarium, IMAX center, live exhibits , and more. Across the Interstate is a new Botanical Garden, and the Strategical Air Command Museum is 20 miles out ( West ) as you come in towards Omaha. There are tons of scenic roads in the Loess Hills of Iowa, and Omaha is smack dab in the middle of the country.

Heck , it is only 20 miles from my house, so sounds good to me.
