http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6209&item=2466891431#mainImage

dude wrote back in 5 minutes with the following:

Hello and thank you for contacting me
I will tell you a few words about the car..
First of all the car is looks just like in the
pictures. It is in imaculate condition and has no schrach on and hasn't
been involved in any accident.
The motor runs very well.
The title is clear ,it is not a salvage one.
The car belongs to my brother. He died two weeks ago in a bike
accident.
The car is now in Portugal as my brother lived there.I am now here as i
took care of the funerals.
Because i can't carry all his things back home i am selling them.
I am willing to sell it and shipp it to any of the UE countries or to
US.I will not ship to any African,Asian or Eastern European countries.
I know that the price is low but i have no use for the car and I want
to get back home as soon as i sell it.
I want to sell the car asap so I am willing to pay the shipping
fees nomatter of the location.
I require a deposit of 3,000 USD, with the balance when the car arrive at your shipping door.
The total price i hope to sell this car is 14,300 USD
I will shipp using KLM 3-5 days, by plane to the nearest airport. From there a truck will bring the car at your door.
The money is a reservation for the car.
First one who makes the deposit will be the buyer.I need the deposit to be
sure that you want the car and in order to proceed with shipping and all
the aditional export taxes.
I wait your further questions and i will provide any infos you need.
Thank you
Regards

I got the same email when I inquired about a GTS I saw yesterday with a really low "buy it now" price. A typical ebay scam. :( These people should rot forever in hell.

And all the pictures of the car seem to be different...anyone else catch that? Some of them have a green car...some a black. Could just be the lighting....but it is front of different houses as well???

No it's not just you. It's amazing that ebay is allowed to operate without taking any responsibility for screening and verifying buyers and sellers are not criminals. They collect their fee even if people get ripped off, so they don't care. Nice business to be a legal internet fencing operation. I can't believe people use it. I never have and never will until they take responsibility like any other business in America has to do. As long as people use ebay and don't demand that they be responsible people will get ripped off and ebay will make lots of money at their expense. So if you use ebay don't complain because you're part of the problem.

Right on DD, how can ebay be allowed to operate with all these scams?I'm suprised they haven't been sued yet for negelcting to confirm what they are allowing to be auctioned. They've gotta have some kind of liability. So many ppl have been scammed from that site. Would I venture to say it adds up to hundreds of millions a year or millions a month??

I would never buy anything of value on ebay. (Car, boat, jewelry, etc.)

I always contact eBay when it is an obvious scam, or I contact a seller when it is obvious that a scammer has stolen his auction. EBay has been responsive in following up when I have contacted them.

Read both his replies in red....I first e-mail just to see what he said....got one back then my reply is in blue.

<font color="red">Hello there,
&gt;
&gt; Thank you for your interest in purchasing my item .
&gt; First of all I must inform you that currently I'm in Portugal and the
&gt; machine is here with me .My faher, who died two keeks ago was the first
&gt; owner of the car; He bought it directly from a local dealership in Ohio.
&gt; The machine is in great condition ,only 9048 miles on it,no damage,no
&gt; scratches or dents, no hidden defects, keept in our own garage.
&gt; The machine is an US model with US specs,it passed the test
&gt; emissions and comes with all the documents you need to register the
&gt; item.
&gt; It has a clear title and it can be registerd into your name.
&gt; I recently ordered a new car from a dealer down here and i
&gt; need the cash in the next few days to pay for it.
&gt; The price I hope to obtain is $19,500 USD (this price includes the
&gt; shipping and insurance) and if you agree with this price we can start to
&gt; complete the transaction. I have to tell you that I have other serious
&gt; offers that I
&gt; have to consider and I will make a decision regarding this sale function
of
&gt; time of payment and price.
&gt; i will shipp the car using KLM 5-7 air days delivery, and i will cover all
&gt; taxes.
&gt; We can make this COD, but if you want to keep the car for you,
&gt; then you have to make a down deposit with 3,500 USD.
&gt; So email me back if you ae intersted and you have the cash.
&gt; The car will be shipped from Portugal and i will cover the shipping
&gt; costs and insurance. You will not have to pay additional taxes, just only
the
&gt; price for it.
&gt;
&gt; Let me know!
&gt;

<font color="blue"> I can go ahead and send the deposit of $3500 and can have the rest COD when
the car is delivered. Where do I send the deposit. Thanks, Tony

<font color="red"> Hello there!
I have researched and tested different payment methods and the
cheapest ones are the
slowest. I have found one that it is the fastest,to make the
deposit.
Their fees are high, but since
I want to make this deal as soon as possible and I believe you are
too, I will beprepared to cover 50% of the Western Union wire transfer fee.
I will choose to use this service as I will have access to the funds
very fast and I will ship you the car with the delivery career
in max 12-14 hours after I receive the deposit payment confirmation from
you.
As mentioned in my previous emails, I prefer to use KLM 5-7 days air
insured for shipping and I will cover shipping and insurance charges.
I have told you from the beginning that you will cover 50% of the
Western Union wire transfer fee so, please do not consider it a "hidden
charge".
In total, you will need to pay the buy now the deposit price which is 3,500
USD plus the
Western Union fee.
For the Western Union wire transfer, you will need my name and
address:

John Harley
Rua Del Flores 12
Lisabo 21541
Portugal

Please email me your full name and shipping address before complete the
payment.
If you can arrange the payment with Western Union wire transfer in a few
hrs,
I will ship you he car with KLM 5-7 2 days air insured in max 10-12 hrs.
They will shipp to the nearest airport and from there a person will bring
the car at your
door.
Thank you and I will wait your email.

Make up something like you are going to Portugal this week on business and would like to give him the cash in person and see the car.

hehe, he is also selling a vette. I counted 3 different houses in the background and like Vipermad stated, they are definitely different colored vehicles.

Go with C5's suggestion, tell him you are just going to take a vacation and drive the car around the Med area and then ship it home, you will seen him Wednesday with all the cash.

It's funny how he mixed up black and emerald green Viper pictures... Or showing pictures of gray-interior cars, but saying it has tan interior... (Or black???) Hard to say...
