Water Pump and Impeller Question

Original Water Pump is weeping a drop or two from the weep hole sometimes after a drive and letting it cool off. 1994 RT/10

Questions: a) is that normal ?
b) service manual says the impeller is plastic. ViperPartsUSA says it's metal for all Gen 1. Online says it's metal for 1992-1993. Then plastic for 1994-1996. What is the truth ?
