This is a fun watch. Really highlights what an epic car the Gen V ACR-E was/is. Makes me want a successor to this car badly since the ten year old one is still putting the industry on blast.

Hats off to the ACR. Sounds like he liked that car the best, and it wasn't because its necessarily the fastest car but its so raw and its 10 years old? Incredible.
Image what that car could have been today if still produced.

Sadly, you really hit the nail on the head. I'm surprised how quickly the market swung with these cars. One minute they are transacting in the 150-250 range, the next, they are 1/2 million plus dollar cars.

That is some incredible stuff to watch. Vintage racecars that are literally irreplaceable. When you have that kind of money that you can keep those cars in their native habitat for the rest of us to watch...truly the Lords work right there.

Racecars are a weird animal. To race teams, they are just tools. Even if they win, as the regulations and stuff change they either modify them to keep them relevant, or they just kind of get tossed a lot of the time when they are no longer viable or competitive. I think fans care more about the history of the car than the teams a lot of times.

That's not to say that we shouldn't preserve them to some degree. On the other hand, a lot of those cars are made up of custom parts anyway, and someone was able to make them in the past, so someone is going to be able to make them again today. I wonder how many of those cars are more like a ship of Theseus today. A team isn't going to go out and win Le Mans, then mothball a car and say "cool, that was fun". They are going to keep racing it in the series. So even if a chassis might have accomplished some impressive feat, I have a feeling a fair amount of parts on the car by the time it enters private ownership are likely not the ones that were on it when it won whatever race.

Its a clickbait video. If you watch there was no real
attempt to even fake legitimacy, like watching a Temu
vs Neiman Marcus breakdown on DikDok. I dont mind
the Viper losing a fair fight, but losing to a sandbagged
race is insulting.

FIY - 5 of the 7 Gen 5 GT3 GTS-R's are in Texas. At least 3 of them are being tracked pretty often.

As for the video - it's obvious that the ACR-E is a potent weapon in skilled hands. And his hands were very busy! Notice it was the only car they did drifting burnouts with. What's the deal with throwing the GTD V-2 into the fray at the last minute? Afraid the ACR would match its performance at 2.5x the sticker price? The ZR-1 is a VERY potent package. JR Hildebrand stormed up Pike's Peak in TA1 class (9:30 I think) and the nearest competitor was 14 seconds behind.
