I'm interested in the real one on the SRT Coupe ... not any of the aftermarket gas covers ...

I have got to go to the dealership tomorrow anyway, I will see if they are available yet. I am extremely interested after seeing the one on the coupe close-up.

before everyone goes and orders this part, shouldn't someone fine out if it even will work on the SRT-10 verts bodywork and filler neck to the gas tank?

ROFLMFAO DCX has lost their mind. Viper tax! Good thing Viper owners are quite inventive and there are more than a few guys to figure out getting or making this piece cheaper. We also dont know if it will even work with the SRT-10 verts bodywork.

Is it metal or plastic? Early Coupe reports said it was plastic ...

To heavy and solid to be plastic in my opinion. It looks like it is polished aluminum on my 1st edition blue white coupe.

When I was at the local Dodge dealer about a month ago, I received the p/n and tech. sheet on installation of the 2006 coupe's gas cap. We are pretty sure it will fit my 2005, though I am waiting to see it first before I commit. I've been calling once a week since then to check status of the order. They told me they have no date yet on delivery, and will return it if it doesn't work. Very pricey. I plan on painting or powdercoating it black for my black SRT-10. Hope it will look ok, pretty expensive experiment.

above from another thread.

I was quoted $438.00 for the cap. I thought I had the p/n, but only the copy of the service sheet "2006 ZB" "014 - Fuel - Fuel Filler Tube" 10-Ocober,2005 page 1.

I have the order that states a description with this sheet attached and the parts guy's writing of 06 coupe $438.00???? If I bring to their attention the price Tator posted,,,, what the heck, it is what it is. I want the part. I'll just make sure it's the right one, should be since it's been backordered forever.

Snake OYL products has one they just introduced for just under 200.00. There is a recent thread out there on this. They have pics posted of the cap on their web site. I think it looks really nice.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to buy the real thing, as soon as someone offers them at a good price.

i must say the srt's look pretty awesome from the top down. The vents on the hood looks like they're supposed to be there. As much as I'm biased towards the gts, our vents look like an afterthought.

I think some people think they look cool, but no one has had the cojones to order one up and try to bolt it on. Until then, it's all academic.

It has to weigh more than the stock filler door though and to me it just doesn't look good enough to justify the expense.

I think the cover would look great on the convertible BUT I have to see one on before I go and put one on. Common sense! Although I would love to have one on before the seasons start. So someone please hurry up and get one!
