It seems that most of you are buying the Valentine One as the choice for a radar dectector. Where are you guys finding the best price for it?

They are not sold in stores. Only way to get it is direct from Valentine. A thread a week ago or so was saying they now require 1st time buyers to wire them the $$ to prevent fraud, so be ready for that

FYI...According to Ms. Valentine, the wire transfer for a first time buyer was required due to the fact that more than one unit was being ordered.

This is one of those items that you should buy retail directly from the manufacturer. They have an excellent warranty that includes reasonably priced upgrades. If you plan to keep it, then pay the extra $50 to avoid the pitfalls of buying "refurbed" equipment.

Ditto on what City said...don't get me wrong, there may be some good finds on ebay for Valentine 1 but I don't think the savings are that great to justify not purchasing from Valentine directly. I'd hate to see that $100 savings turn into a $500 mistake.

I thought my V1 was giving off a lot of false alarms, but I sat on my butt until the warranty had expired by 1.5 months. I finally called them up, explained I wasn't happy with it and told them the warranty was out, but not by much. They told me to send it back and they'd check it out for free :2tu: I sent it in and they said it operated fine for them. They did go ahead and reprogram it to be sure and replaced the suction cups that no longer worked. Since the reprogramming, it does seem to have cut down on the false alarms :2tu:

Like I mentioned (as did Tony a/k/a Mr. Agreeable) they have EXCELLENT customer service.
