Hello everyone:

I am currently having a problem with my climate controls. Only certain ones allow heat to come out and only certain ones allow Air Conditioning. It seems really weird. Here is a picture what will help my explanation. I am going to work from Left To Right.

The first setting (looks like a car with an arrow and circle in it)
Allows both heat and AC

Second Setting (Snowflake)
Only AC but this is what it is supposed to do

Third Setting (Toward The Face)
Only AC???

Forth Setting
OFF

Fifth Setting (Feet)
VERY hard to get it to turn into AC

Sixth Setting (Feet and Defogger)
VERY hard to get it to turn into AC

Seventh Setting
VERY hard to get it to turn into AC

Anyone know why this is??

Thanks in advance

Keith

That's just how it is. Vipers have two climate control settings- hot and cold, and hot only comes out of the floor vents. :)

I personally would love nothing more than the ability to get heat out of the top vents in my RT/10. It'd be great on these chilly fall days. Ah well.

I believe that they only allow warm air to come out of the lower vents due to some study that found people were more likely to fall asleep at the wheel with warm air blowing in their face. I know I have had cars in the past that do the same thing.

I drove my RT/10 the other night with the top off and a cold front decided to move in. I rolled up the windows and was shocked that heat only came out of the bottom vents. I froze my little nose off but but damn my feet were so warm!

It is just starting to get colder here in Texas, but I still haven't had to use the heat since last year.

I am fairly sure, though, that if you put the setting on 6 or 7 (the last 2), you can actually vary the heat and the AC compressor comes on automatically.

Sure it isn't as good as having the option to blow air out of the main vents, but it is better than just the floorboard. Also, the 6 position works great when ******* since the air is from the top and bottom of the floorboard.

Yeah.

I just figured this out a couple weeks ago (And I feel very stupid). I'm never used to using heat on my feet, so I always just thought I got screwed and my Vipers heat was broken.

I had my dad try to fix the heat 3 or 4 times. He laughed at me one night when I told him I fixed it myself by just turning the knob a few more times to the right.

=)

The furthest two settings will push warm air out of the defroster vents, thus, warm air to the upper area of the car.

The far 2 left positions are to freeze your nuts off, and the 5 on the right turn you into toast. My advice, open the windows and let the real world in ;)
