Today's Detroit News reports that Wolfy is not going to GM after all. Seems he wanted a high level spot that reported directly to GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner. Bob Lutz says that no such spots are available and GM isn't going to create one. Rumors are that Bernhard is now having discussions with Volkswagon.

Wolfgang has had offers, but since he is still under contract there is nothing he can do yet. According to Wolfgang, "nothing will happen until next March. All the things you are hearing are unfounded rumors".

Here are some notes I have on few scenarios that may or may not take place, but at least we can dream based on these facts:

1-Don't believe the rumors, Lutz and Wolfgang have a VERY GOOD relationship.
2-Ford could be a natural fit at CEO since they really do have an opening if JR moves back to the Chairman's position.
3-VW would only be done to spite Jurgen Shrempp (who does not get along with current VW CEO)
4-Maybe (this is the dream case) the DC management board meets again, decides that Dr. Zietche (I know I spelt that wrong) would be the perfect fit to lead MB and they bring back Wolfgang to head Chrysler. Now I wake up.

I will meet with him in a few weeks and with a little luck he may be able to give some facts instead or rumor.

To all I can tell you that Wolfgang bleeds for this Viper Community, and he is STILL today using all his influence to help the club any way he can from the sidelines.

Wow - I wish there was something the community could do to pressure DC to bring him back. Without visionaries like him to lead- DC will slip quietly into the shadows again as the other makes catch up and pass by - waving as they go.

I've heard his ME 4-12 project is getting canned - that would be yet another gross display of politics and money wasted on something that could have been great....

but then similar stories are legendary in the big OEM world where egos and internal politics seem to rule more than common sense.... if only the shareholders knew what was said and agreed inside board rooms and between senior officials in some of the largest companies - we'd see a mass share sel off going on from loss of confidence

You can't rule by committee - it takes a strong leader with vision, courage, and integrity - then you can accomplish great things - aka Wolfgang until fired, and Bob Lutz, and all the great strides forward in automotive history where one man had to direct a vision through the mirey clay of red tape and hand wringing.

Bring back Wolfgang!!! :headbang:
