Is anyone planning on going to the Woodward Dream Cruise in August? I heard the VCA sometimes has an event?

I hope to. Providing I have my Viper by then. I'm just starting the paperwork and it's 2,000 miles away.

MCVO has 2 woodward events. One on Thursday I believe for dinner and cruising and one Saturday. No VCA events that I am aware of.

Check the MCVO web page for details.

I went one time, so many people and cars you have to pay way to much attention to the crusing part and can not enjoy the actual event. If you are just a bystander it is not all bad.

Ron's right, the Motor City Viper Owners chapter of VCA welcomes you all to the Dream Cruise. If you're coming to town let me know and we'll try to help coordinate things. The actual Dream Cruise is Saturday, August 19th, but the entire week before is full of cruising. Cars come in from all over the world, events and dinners are held all week, and the whole thing builds each day to the final all-day event.

Here were some of the Vipers that got together for the Thursday night dinner last year:

From past attendance experience , if you plan on attending Saturday too much traffic and too many cops watching and ticketing burnouts. Too many Minivan and Taurus types that grid everything to a stand still. I think and have proposed to the Woodward Cruise committee to limit Saturday to Classic ans/ or Muscle Cars only.

If you plan on bringing you Viper, come on Thurday event or earlier in the week and enjoy.

It is?

I know the largest pre 1949 show is in Louisville, KY. They will draw 12K+ cars for a weekend show from all over the world. NSRA Street Rod Nationals. If you never been and you are into pre 49 custom street rods this is your show!

Yup - this is copied from the official website:

12TH ANNUAL WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE
To be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006, the Woodward Dream Cruise, the world’s largest one-day celebration of car culture, attracts more than 1 million visitors and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles.

there are lots of events surrounding the dream cruise, CAAP is only 30-35 min. from clarkston., W.P. Chrysler museum is only 15-20min., The Henry Ford has some amazing cars in its collection. Lemans winning GT40 mk IV, Buggatti Royale, Limo Kennedy was shot in, and many others(45-50min from clarkston). the local chapter usually has 1-2 formal(scheduled) events and a quite few members will usually have impromtu gatherings in the week leading up to the actual cruise. Our local chapters web site is pretty lame but you can check it anyway and some of the powers that be may be able to help or pm me. www.mcvo.net

Earl --

We're meeting at Bennigans on the east side of Woodward just south of Square Lake. We have most of the their large lot saved for us and we'll have dinner and some other fun stuff before we hit the cruising.

Do we need to send money to reserve a spot? If so, to who? and amount? I have meaning to find a spot every year, but usually just make a few passes (up and down woodward) and call it a day. 'would be cool to spend the day with some fellow Viper owners.
