IMG_7073_VCA.jpg

from what i understand, the car was delivered to the east coast, was driven about 200 ft, then the driver nailed it. and unfortunately, also happen to nail a couple parked cars too! just under $30,000 in damage. YIKES!

LOOKS LIKE THEY DAMAGED A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING. :crazy2:

....One word for the new owner: Retard....

Owner? Probably the 'lot boy' assigned to prep the car. Guessing not the owner....time will tell I guess.

We have purchased from auction or insurance several SRT10s with under 50 miles, and 2 with less than 10. Wrecked by or at Dodge dealer

Can they repair it and sell as 'new?' Somebody get the VIN, quick!

In GA, I've heard, (but can't confirm) that if the damage is under $500 you can repair it and not disclose the repair to the customer. This however, is obviously over $500.

200 feet? Thats gotta be a record!

Sadly, I doubt it. I'm sure MANY Vipers have been crashed by someone getting in and slamming the gas as soon as they shut the door :buttkick:

I still remember picking up my GTS and the words that Danny Baum said to me before I left:

On 12-30-07 they had a Green 08 that was sold on the showroom ,it was sweet.

holy crap!! where did you hear the rumor? on here? any more details? WOW....

the bodyshop, a local one to me, who did the estimate, told me that he heard, the owner - a Doctor in NY - is the one who wrecked it within minutes upon delivery.

guessing here - but why would someone from NY get the estimate from a bodyshop located in Roanoke IL? i am guessing that the car was purchased from John @ ROMOCO, and may have been the car seen in this picture.

this was the first SSG car that my boys and i took pics of a just few weeks ago. :(

if this is the same car, the SSG seen in this pic is also most likely one of the first ones built and probably delivered to anyone. i dont have the date of the accident, but i started hearing the rumors about this accident atleast a couple weeks ago or so.

i wonder how hard it is to match this paint? :dunno:

please note - i am sharing the bits and pieces of info i am getting here and there. if anyone has first hand knowledge of the accident, please tell us.

now if you will excuse me, i am going to leave and cry for a few hours. LOL

Well, I'm thinking it's a VCA member who's too embarrassed and doesn't want to deal with the ridicule they would get here. Heck, if it were me I'd be looking for body shops in CA and my name would be John Doe..Anything but have to admit my shame and deal with you fine folks here. :D

funny how we assume that whenever an exotic is wrecked that the guy is an idiot, maybe the road was slick or he swerved to save an animals life. Also everyday is a learning curve, i spun my 03 out unexpectedly

This is very unfortunate to see, especially the fact that the Snakeskin Green Pearlcoat is my favourite colour for the '08. I can understand a new driver wrapping A car around a pole or hitting a few cars, but even when standing still ANY YEAR Dodge Viper demands respect. It's common sense: YOU DO NOT PUSH A VIPER UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, YOUR HANDS ARE AT 10 AND 2 (driving schools now say 9 and 3 because of airbag placement) AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS ARE PERFECT. Sure there are many other factors in running a Viper hard, but these are the most common you must keep in mind.

On a side note, my cousin's '89 Porsche 944 Turbo is hell on wheels. I drive the car a fair amount in the summer, and even I am afraid to roll into it. Handles great, runs well, feels well balanced but when the turbo is spooling up it gets scary. She normally runs the boost around 5psi for around town use, and for highway I bump it up to 14psi. Why do I not run boost at lower levels and push the car? I prefer not to push it and sometimes scare myself at 100km/h. Scares passengers too, but its all done safely.

I know my limits and the limits of the car are a lot higher than what I KNOW I AM CAPABLE OF. I've pushed my Mazda, but only because I know what to expect. A lot of you guys and gals can say the same about the Viper. But when you first got it, how reluctant were you to really push the accelerator down? Rather, how many of you to this day know your limits VS your Viper's limit?

Someone in NY would get an estimate from the shop in Illinois because the guy is very, very good. I spoke at lengh with him after I called everyone in the world after totalling my first GTS. I decided not to fix it and total it but this guy, who Roanoke uses all the time, is a genius at Viper repair. Supposedly even if all the frame rails are bent he will fix it perfectly. I'm sure Roanoke referred the owner to him if the car was bought from Roanoke. This guy, Woodhouse and a guy Tator knows are the best in the country if you mash it and want to fix it RIGHT.

you are absolutely right lee. i have seen his work, and Brad is VERY meticulous and i believe does all the bodywork for ROMOCO.
