This is very unfortunate to see, especially the fact that the Snakeskin Green Pearlcoat is my favourite colour for the '08. I can understand a new driver wrapping A car around a pole or hitting a few cars, but even when standing still ANY YEAR Dodge Viper demands respect. It's common sense: YOU DO NOT PUSH A VIPER UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, YOUR HANDS ARE AT 10 AND 2 (driving schools now say 9 and 3 because of airbag placement) AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS ARE PERFECT. Sure there are many other factors in running a Viper hard, but these are the most common you must keep in mind.
On a side note, my cousin's '89 Porsche 944 Turbo is hell on wheels. I drive the car a fair amount in the summer, and even I am afraid to roll into it. Handles great, runs well, feels well balanced but when the turbo is spooling up it gets scary. She normally runs the boost around 5psi for around town use, and for highway I bump it up to 14psi. Why do I not run boost at lower levels and push the car? I prefer not to push it and sometimes scare myself at 100km/h. Scares passengers too, but its all done safely.
I know my limits and the limits of the car are a lot higher than what I KNOW I AM CAPABLE OF. I've pushed my Mazda, but only because I know what to expect. A lot of you guys and gals can say the same about the Viper. But when you first got it, how reluctant were you to really push the accelerator down? Rather, how many of you to this day know your limits VS your Viper's limit?
