I had ruled this out at first, but now I am thinking about it. I've got the 99 GTS below if you are not locked into the other one you have found. Not interested in buying it outright, however. I'm not sure if I want to do it yet, but wanted to throw it out there if you were interested.

Beautiful car, but I'm after red or '99 black...Thanks--Andy

man I just cant see going from a newer viper to and older one.. call me crazy... with all the improvements made every year, brakes, transmission, horsepower, looks, all sorts of stuff. I don't see anybody trading in a gen 4 to goto a gen 3, or a gen 3 to a gen 2, etc..

I did just that about a month ago- went from a '05 Copperhead to my '01 ACR. I don't regret it for a moment. The looks of the '05 just never grew on me like I thought it would. Sure it had a more "refined" ride, but owning a Viper is also about driving a beast of a car. I gladly traded a few extra HP, cushier ride, and better brakes for a classic design that will never be confused with a Corvette(which my SRT10 was on numerous occasions:omg:)

Mainly just because I want to go FAST! 650rwhp gets old after not too long if I did a paxton on my current car, and it costs a minimum $30k to go to the next step after that on the Gen III's if you do it right. Or, I could get a 96-99GTS and achieve 800-900rwhp for a fraction of that cost due to the fact I can leave the motor alone. Plus, I love both cars a LOT and have yet to own a Gen II. Worst case scenario is I hate it, sell it, and get a greatly depreciated '06 coupe or even better, a GREATLY depreciated '08...

The newer Vipers are much more refined. . . but if I were looking for refinement, I never would have looked at a Viper in the first place. An 05' Viper owner two towns over is trading back to a Gen II . . . in his opinion, the new ones just don't get the attention like the Gen II's (and as Lawrenzo also posted, he was tired of hearing "nice Vette"):headbang:
