Where to buy Belanger cold air intake?

I'm wrapping up doing the work on my car and I like how clean the engine bay looks without the airbox (it's the last thing to go back in before the hood goes on). A friend has a couple of intake tubes with cone filters on the end that he got from Belanger, but after a few Google and forum searches I'm coming up with nothing. Does anyone know where I can get them, or have contact info for Belanger to see if they still make them? Thanks!

The ones that have the cone filters on the end of the tubes pointing downward behind the radiator where they pick up hot air? Not sure who makes them but I wouldn't put them on my Viper if you paid me to do so.

Those are them! He has a Roe and a stock thermostat (but upgraded radiator) and says he only has a slight increase in temp when he's idling in traffic. He also did it because he needed a hard place to mount the nitrous nozzles.

Now that my car will run cooler with a rebuilt and recored radiator and new plumbing all around, I figured prepping myself for a shot of nitrous and saving some room under there wouldn't hurt. I can keep the car out of traffic if need be.

That said, just so I have the option...anyone know where one could buy these?

That'd be more up my alley if I had the Gen. II hood, which I want but haven't been able to afford yet. That box would be pretty useless with a Gen. I smoothie hood, no?

I'll continue to poke around. Thanks, guys!

Actually, it would probably work better on a GenI without the NACA duct opening. There have been threads here about the NACA duct being useless starting at a certain speed (40 I think?) and impacting airflow to the airbox at speed. But I think the key is getting air redicted from under the front fascia to the airbox (any) using either the Vipair, JMB airbox with extended lip or installing the roe front fascia kit which I'm about to do shortly. Sorry to get off topic. :)

I was going to ask that too...if adding a Roe fascia kit would decrease the likelihood of picking up hot air.

Well, if the JMB box is a better fit maybe I'll explore that route too. No sense in wasting all the extra cooling by bringing temps right back up. Thanks, Tony!

Roe duct = cold air.

Do IT!

Will the cold air feed directly into the exposed cone filters if I do that? I was just trying to save a little space under the hood and make it look nicer without the clunky airbox.

If a Roe fascia kit will feed into those intake tubes, then that sounds like the way I'd like to go.

Thanks again for input, guys!

Exactly.

Justins kits are very nice and functional. The front end/fascia on Jason’s Gen 1 is definitely not the same as any others I have seen. I’d be surprised if any of the aftermarket kits worked on his without some fitment mods. The fan shroud is built into the front bulkhead and getting the radiator out involved pulling the ac condenser along with the hood hinges a few busted knuckles and lots of cussing. The other option was to pull the fascia and everything came out the front? There may be a secret that we couldn’t see but it didn’t appear easy. My Gen 2 GTS radiator came out in 30 minutes.

He has the "early" gen.1, Radiator shroud was built into the core support. My "later" gen.1 has same/similar setup as the gen.2's.

You have a Frankenstein car! :D

He almost had a Frankenstein car as I was about to get the sawzall out.

Yes his is early as it has the antenna. Needless to say I know a lot of engineering goes into a vehicle but this design had me puzzled. To get the fans out would require the fascia to be removed?

Well, it's even more of a Frankenstein now: When the motor was apart we discovered the motor had been rebuilt and had aftermarket pistons in there, and I just threw a Gen. II intake/injectors/cam on top of everything else. Still 100% Viper, just a mish-mash of the best of each generation.

That intake was on a local member's car and cost him about 50 HP because it was picking hot air directly behind the radiator. Even with a Roe duct kit...how is cold air supposed to get to those filters sitting in between a hot engine and radiator? :dunno: If it were me...I'd stick with the stock airbox + smooth tubes and add the Vipair and Roe fascia kit. In fact, that's what I am doing.

I was thinking of building up an intake system for my Gen1. I think there may be some HP to be gained from a Gen1, where there is some restriction in the pickup area. My main motivation would be to make the airbox look as good as the motor and get it to mount correctly. I found that with the after market radiator, the mount holes for the airbox are in slightly different places.

Let's talk about it at the next drive.

I'd love to pick your brain about it. For the time being I'll throw the airbox back on there so I can putter around. When is the next drive?

You put a nice painted diverter plate under the cones and no hot air gets to them.:2tu:

Jason, I had ART do a Roe Duck Kit when I had the blower done. I have to tell you that the kit seems to be working better than I expected. I plan on doing the long JMB kit to get more cool air. See you Saturday?

I'll talk with you about it Saturday. I may be tardy to the drive (I have some obligations I was informed of last night) but I'll make it out.

My clutch is fixed...turned out it was a cracked slave cylinder. I just need to throw the airbox, AC, hood and sills back on and I'm driving. Of course, I don't NEED those parts to move...maybe I'll show up without them!

man... I had some cone filters on my RT and it put down good Dyno numbers and great track numbers with runs back to back. Never had any problems on the street and it was just an all round good car. Maybe it would have been better with a stock air box? who knows... but it was so bad ass for the little I did to the car, I didn't want to change anything. I used to run open air filters on my Mustangs all the time with no heat shield of any sort. They ran perfectly fine. Sometimes when it comes down to it, it just needs ALOT of air, weather it be hot or cold.... Sometimes you just gotta toss physics and numbers out the window and just see what a real life application does.
