I'm contemplating the purchase of a car I have been chasing for a while now. Its a 2001 ACR (Saphire/Silver. Only thing is the price is a bit high considering the market, but it is exactly what I want.

What do you guys think a fair price for an 01 ACR with 3400 miles with full documentation is worht in today's market?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies. :drive:

May not be relevant but I paid $50 for one almost the same except no stripes just over 2 years ago. I thought that was a good deal then. I'm biased, but the color and wheels make it stand out in a crowd. They didn't make many in the combo either. red and yellow are everywhere. It's an outstanding car and don't let anyone deter you with shock/ride negativity.

With that many miles I would say 50k. Even for a viper that is very very low miles, you are basically buying a new car.

50k two years ago sounds like you got an outstanding deal. I think 50k is still a pretty good deal even in this market for that color combo and number of miles.

worth quite a bit IMO. that car is rare. I sold a 99 Black/Silver with 4k miles on it for 45k. So 50 is a decent deal IMO

Wow!!! You guys nailed it!!! Seller is asking $50K and I don't think he will budge on price. He is the original owner, so he's into it for some $$$$$. I was hoping to get it for around $47K considering I am seeing ACR's selling for mid $30's right now. Granted they have more miles, but this car is still quite a bit more than some of the others in the market right now. I do plan on driving the car, so I'm not really looking for a garage queen, but I this thing is just beautiful!

Call Bernie at BJ motors or Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse for opinions. They deal with used Viper pricing all the time.
NICE color choice BTW.

Before I read the other threads, I actually thought a bit HIGHER than $50, going to $52ish (if at a retail dealer). The rarity of color PLUS the miles makes it pretty darn special. The guy is pretty nervy to be that firm on his price, but not everyone 'must' sell regardless of the economic woes.

I've not seen any ACRs in mid 30's (admittedly not hard in the hunt either) but given the 'nearly new' mileage only, that's a justifiable premium to pay for the right car.

You could attempt to meet him midway bt 47 and 50, and then consider you got a very good buy on a very fine car.

If'n you're lov'n the color and don't want to lose it though, write the man a check!

Now why did you have to go and do that?!!! This decision making process was hard enough without having to see that!!!!! :nono:

Did I mention your car is SWEET!

Don't lose the car for 3k! Throw a number at him (47) and see how he reacts, if he's dead set on 50 and you want the car then jump on it!

With only 3K miles on her the body is prob near perfect but i still recommend thoroughly inspecting the paint and frame to make certain she hasnt been in a substantial accident.
...you never know.
If all checks well, 50K is a nice price especially if that color combo is your 1st choice:2tu:

I assume with that low mileage that most of the fluids are original. With fluids, Time(8yrs in this case) matters just as much as mileage.
I recommend changing All fluids.
Also run some fuel injector cleaner though a tank just incase they are gunked up from all that sitting.

Goodluck with closing the deal

No brainer at 50k IMO, matter of fact might be a bargain. How much would just the wheels sell for? For a no excuse LOW mileage Viper I think its very fair - but I have an ACR. :)

How much do you plan on driving it? If you are going to put a lot of miles on it, I would suggest a cheaper car with more miles on it, no reason to pay a premium for a low miles car if you are going to put a lot of miles on it.

I will tell you that color is a pia to keep clean. But when clean in the sunlight there is no color more striking. If I was in your position 50k would not bother me a bit for a unmolested, unmodified car.
Good Luck and post pics if you make the jump

I would say $50K is a great deal on that car if everything checks out. I bought a '01 sapphire/silver ACR last year and paid just over $53K for it and it had over 12k miles on it. One thing I would consider though is tires and fluids. New PS2's will run you $1400 to $1800 depending on who you buy from and fluid change will run you almost another grand. I will say that $50k is a steal.

The extra cash would pay for tires, gas, upgrades (because nobody leaves it alone) and frankly, the cheaper it is, the more you will use it.

I would jump on that car at 50 providing it checks out. I think 50 is a steal also. What are you waiting for?

No its not that car, but I have heard (on a couple forums)some things about that car and that it has "stories", just not quite sure what the stories are.

I put an official offer in for $46,500. Seller didn't turn it down right away, so I guess that's a good sign. It is also possible that he didn't read my email yet, so who knows.

I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for your responses!
