New Viper owner,

2006 Blue with silver stripes. 16K miles, very clean

Pictures at this link. I have not figured out how to post a picture yet.

http://www.rumblebee.org/viewtopic.php?p=542693#542693

Car has aftermarket exhaust, K&N filters and I think a short throw shifter just basing that on how nice it shifts.

Can anyone let me know if the wheels are, factory or aftermarket? I really like them but have no idea what they are.
How can I figure out what gears are in the car?

Bought it from Gladstone Dodge in KC. previous owner traded for a new 5th gen.

I am hoping from the pictures that someone may know the car.

No documentation or even an owners manual.

I am planning on removing the windshield banner soon.

Anyways, after 2.5 days, I am loving this car.

I have been on here for a couple years just reading about my dream car.

If the gearing is stock, you'll be around 1000rpm on the tach in 6th gear doing 65 / 70ish.

If the tach is higher at that speed, it's got gears.

At least you have good taste. That banner looks awful. Enjoy your Viper. Agree with others on the wheels. Look great and are the lightest stock wheels.

thanks for the replies,

wow, nice wheels for stock, I have a DODGE banner on my Rumblebee but this one just does not look right on this car.

Still hoping a KC Viper member knows this car, so maybe I can ask the previous owner what kind of exhaust he put on the car and any other question I can think of. The dealership says it is a 4k exhaust.

Thanks on the gearing question, I went down the highway with my daughter this morning and was going around 70 and shifted into 6th and the tach dropped to less than 1000rpm, so based on the description I am guessing stock gears.

again thanks for the responses.

Ya, those are one of the better looking stock viper wheels. Congrats. I hope you got a really good deal on it :)

Why not just ask Gladstone for the name and contact info of the previous owner.
Normally they will not share that info before the sale, but now that the sale is complete they may tell you.
Worth a try?

I know the car Very well. My son was the second owner and did all of the mods. He sold the car to a man in Mo. PM me and I will give you my son's phone number and he can tell you everything you want to know.

when I drove it home, I realized how spoiled I got in the 2011 challenger, 2007 Vette and other cars.

I was looking for the hood release button
the mirrors on the visor
the MPG calculator, distance to empty
all of the other things in the info screens on the SRT challenger tells you

Ride is harsh compared to the challenger!
where are the seat controls?
why don't the lights go on automatically?
where is the inside button for the trunk release?

then, it hit me. this is kinda like my 68 vette, nice and raw.

All is good again.

Now I will admit that I do like the sound of a V8 HEMI or LSx motor with aftermarket exhaust so far over the viper with aftermarket exhaust.

But I am good with that.

Every car I bought, I still wanted a viper.

Now, I don't want another car. check that box

I also own an SRT8 Charger 2007. Love that car as well. It, and my 2003 Viper compliment each other nicely. They both are both fantastic driving machines, but in totally different ways. Congrats.

OK, sorry for dumb questions.

does the viper have an aluminum block or iron block? I am thinking aluminum because it warms up fast.

car runs around the 200 degree level. is there a 160 or 180 thermostat for it? OK for it?

The Viper is an aluminum block and 200 degrees is fairly normal. There are options for cooler thermostats. I would suggest a 185.

Like my dad said that's my old car.... There are a lot of things done to that car that the dealer has no clue about.... It's come up a few times on Ebay and the descriptions were missing a lot...

hey,

I really like that color combo.

just put gas in my car to check the mpg after driving a week to and from work in KC rush hour traffic. 12.4 mpg.

Woohoo, better than I expected.
