As a previous officer of the club, giving my time and resources, I am now thanked by not even being allowed to post in the regions forum that I donated my efforts to.

I try to post and get this:

Mopar Steve, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I know I am currently not a paid member, and only paying members are allowed to post in the regional forums, but it still stings a little that I have essentially had the door slammed on me. You might ask " why not pay my dues?" I might answer, " Why not send my magazines"

Like the title says, You're welcome.

WHAT????? I spent my own money on several occasions, and this was a volunteer job. No officer gets any money. Our region still has all their money! ***???

made a decision, wanted something better?

My term was up.

And unlike you, I will likely pay my dues and join the club again

do what you plan to do and deal with it. I do have a question for you, do you have anything to offer to the vca?

I think that there is a lot of feeling of entitlement. "Oh, I'm entitled to an Avatar because other people have it." " I'm entitled to a 1000 ***," "I'm entitled to access to the Regional forums because I used to post there when I was a VCA member." The country is full of people with entitlement issues, for sure. I didn't previously identify Viper owners as being part of that group.

As far as being entitled to the 2013 magazines: That one I agree with. I don't personally care to make a big deal over it; but I would like to receive those that are produced. I don't care if they do not make all 6 that were mentioned earlier in the year.

You missed the whole point of that post. Not sure if you would be bright enough to get it if I explained it to you so I wont try. Yes I have not renewed YET. But I did say that I likely will, just not yet. 77 posts, member since July, Okey dokey.:lmao:

I know I'm opening a hateful response, however I'm sick and tired of "enthusiasts" bad mouthing our site. I'd love it if "enthusiasts" were only allowed to view certain areas and not allowed to post. This would avoid most of the hateful, nasty, and frankly needless criticism of our site. I can understand and respect the right of a dues paying member with a "dog in the fight" expressing concerns of any kind on our site. I welcome that. I really don't think we as members should have to read any more negative posts from non members. I cannot see the down side of this suggestion. A membership cost is so low that everyone who wants to post should pay it. Just a thought that I'm sure will completely outrage non members.---Dave

You'd be talking with about 10 other posters on the site. Have fun with that.

Steve,
A word of advice, it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and prove them correct!

Your lack of intelligent rebuttal, only personal insult, proves your great grandparents hung from trees by their tails.

I agree with you. As non paying members we really should not have any say in the vca forums. So take it up with the national board and make it a 100% pay site. That's really what ought to be done.

I chose not to renew and I understood exatly what that ment. The policy on avatars, etc. was in place long before the "troubles" broke into the open. I have no problem with it, and I really don't expect to recieve any more magazines either.

I had been thinking about the solution to this problem also. I agree with slysnake, TOTALLY. However, there are plenty of ex-VCA that are still emotionally invested in their hate and/or distrust of the VCA or believed that they were cheated out of $5 , and they feel the need to poison the forums here, even though VOA leadership has repeatedly asked them to let it go. It would be good if VCA leadership ask the same of itself and its forum members. No more mention of splinter group, etc. Both sides did what they did following the resignation of the VCA president with well meaning intentions that are not agreeable to both sides.

I suggest making a new forum section here entitled "Non-member ******** about VCA" and move the existing and new relevant threads there whenever they pop-up. Make it a forum that isn't included in the New Posts list. If you want, any ****** posts in non related threads (like a for-sale thread or a tech thread) can be moved; deleted, or better yet, accumulated in its own thread called "todays raggers" or something like that. It would be some work for the moderators; but, worth it, IMHO.

That way, the forums stay open for enthusiastic ENTHUSIASTS like me, and also new folks just starting out here or non-owners who desire to participate here. There would technically be no censorship, just movement of the "speech" after it was spoken. The angry , disgruntled enthusiasts would still have a place where they can vent and entertain each other. A virtual circle **** room, if you will excuse the expression.

The enthusiasts who decided not to renew are bright, intelligent folks as are virtually all Viper owners, I think. The disgruntled ones will eventually move on with their life. I liken them to the kids I see tugging on their father's arm while he is in conversation with another adult and saying "daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy." That kid won't stop on his own; but, I think these disgruntled ex-VCA enthusiasts eventually will, or, at least they will just do it in the alley where it is appreciated.

Why not just make the vca site a members only site, period. If you pay your membership dues you can log on to the site ( including the forums ). If you are not a paid member the only page you will have access to would be an information blurb on the club and a membership link.
Seems like a simple solution to me.

Oh, I think you know why that isn't a viable alternative. I am proposing an alternative that is consistent with this club welcoming potential new and old members and non-owner enthusiasts to post who don't have "issues" here and provide a place for those that do have issues to still post if that is what they want. i.e., reduce censorship like has been discussed in all of the Viper forums. In my perception, VCA leadership truly is trying to improve and accommodate in my view. I think that they could be more "politically correct" but, they are real folks, sometimes also with "hard-feelings" like the ones that left. They may not be doing what everyone who used to be a member or wants to be a member wants; but, they are doing what they think that accommodates an adequate membership base, and now there is an alternative outlet for folks to go to to join.

VCA now has a competitor who has a slightly different product that must be considered. However, they are NOT enemies, even though some of their members may think so.

Good !!!

My brother and I used to fight a LOT when we were kids. A LOT! Now we are best friends. Partly because we grew a sense of humor, and mostly because we no longer live with each other, and just visit.

When I was thinking about a Viper, I came here and and got a wealth of information, was able to ask a lot of questions, and ultimately bought an 05. If this was a pay only site, I could not have done that. At this point, I have not joined the VCA, mainly because I really don't have much use for any of the benefits, but that is just me. It is quite expensive to join, and not get anything but the magazine. Obviously, others can enjoy all the benefits if their situation sees fit.

I would be supportive of a $10 yearly charge to have read/write access to the forums only, no benefits. This gets rid of the trolls right away. VCA members get access to the VCA-onl;y categories, as is done today. However, for non-payers, leave the forums as READ only, and leave one forum category open for people looking for info and help on purchase decisions. That way people can do some research, and ask some basic questions to help buy a Viper. If someone is acting like a troll, just ignore them. Most paying people will be in the other categories daily, and not be bothered with trolls, Gen V haters, my-corvette-better, etc. etc.

$10 seems like a nominal fee, I see other forums do that.

That is a great idea. $10 is reasonable for someone wanting access... maybe even $25/year?

Most enthusiasts are important and significant contributors. It is only a few that our disruptive and, with time, that should extinguish itself as they are increasingly ignored by Members and true enthusiasts who have the best interest of the Viper at heart.

Many Members enjoy helping enthusiasts who have Viper related questions. I think the same is probably true of any family oriented car club site. Based on the posts of the Board, it is clear that there is no liklihood that this site will be changed to Members Only and that is good.
