I'd agree with what many point out here. Before I continue, I shall disclaim that I have little experience in super/hyper/mega cars. I just read a lot of magazines.

Now, when shopping for any car that costs north of $100,000, I would imagine the buyer would like to select every option and make that car their own. Unless the car is a special edition like the TA that really doesn't have any options, the chances you are going to walk onto the lot and find a car with every option you'd choose are slim. For whatever reason, many dealerships seem to have stocked up their lots with the ol' "fully loaded" models, and ended up with a bunch of $160,000 GTSs that nobody wanted. With any car, the dealership should have a fully-optioned floor model or two so customers can check out all the choices and then perhaps build their own. They should get to drive them too (after a credit check, of course).

But let's face it... Vipers are sold by niche dealers, or megadealers that sell way more Chrysler 200s than Vipers. The cars were probably roped off and nobody was allowed to touch them.

Dodge/SRT has always fought a battle with this car. Regardless of the Generation, the Viper is in a totally different league than any other vehicle in Fiat/Chrysler's range (Alfa and Ferrari excluded), and the dealers may not know how to market them. The fifth generation car is no longer the "built in a barn" car that's clunky, plastiky, and brutally hooliganistic. SRT is going after the Italian exotics with an extremely low-volume, hand built, supreme quality supercar. Oh? 499 LaFerraris? That's cute. Try freaking THIRTY-THREE Black TAs in the whole world!! How's THAT for exclusive??

I feel SRT wants to woo customers away from Aston Martin, Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes, etc with a vehicle that can (as far as my limited experience goes) really compete. They built the Track Pack and TA to set records, but they built the GTS to show that an American (ish) manufacturer can compete on a world-class level.

The world wasn't ready for the Phaeton, but may be ready for the new Viper. There's a class of people who I'm sure sneer at the thought of owning any vehicle that costs less than a hundred grand, but it's always been difficult to get them to stop at a Dodge dealership instead of the Porsche one. The car may be world-class, but the experience is not. Nobody cross-shops a Corvette ZR-1 to a 458 Italia, and nobody used to cross-shop an SLS and a Viper, but I'd like to think that perhaps you could. (I've never sat in an SLS, so who knows. I did breathe on an SLS Black once. It was sweet.) SRT needs to win new customers, as well as satisfy everyone on these forums who already owns one.

I hope they succeed, but it's also nice not running into any other Vipers in town...

Hey bad gts go jump in a lake and drive your gen 4 I paid sticker for 3 gen 4 two Acr and one loaded coupe. You don't like the car or the price we get it. A gen v will run circles around the car you mentioned.

Your bragging you PAID STICKER

I paid sticker for my FGT and you tell me what it's worth now?? Also paid close to sticker for 2012 ZR1, ok worth somewhat less but well worth it for the thrill factor. Got my 2014 GTS 5 for 5000 off list and thought I stole it, still do, it is one bad ass machine.

I personally know 08viperviolet and what he says is gospel, been driving the wheels off the snake since he could (barely) drive.

Here's the deal all you wanna be gen 5s (I'll buy it when it has more HP, when the unlock the computer, when it $*** of list bla bla bla) If you don't fn want one go troll somewhere else (I suggest the Saab forum). I've had a Jag, F360, Z06 Zr1 etc, the G5 is a great car, so ****! I really don't give a damn how many you (allegedly) helped peddle.

I am unsure why anyone comes to the Gen V forum, to endlessly blab how much they hate the car and how stupid people who paid MSRP are.

Lord, 1BADGTS, you are a useless and boring one trick troll.

We get it, you think the car should cost $50,000. It should have 978RWHP. It should run 2.5 0-60 in reverse. It should run the quarter mile in 7.32 seconds (also in reverse). Until then, you won't buy one, right?

When the car is TERMINATED due to lack of sales because it was overpriced ,underpowered and underteshed we will see WHO WAS THE USELESS BORING ONE TRICK TROLL .The SALES NUMBERS flat out indicate your losing the battle by a landslide .Dodge did not come out with the Gen 5 to sell 40 units in 9 months .The dealers did not order these cars to lose tens if thousands of dollars per unit .For some strange reason you dont understand thispective is a business and unless something is done to dramatically increase sales the Viper is history .If this happens as bad as resale value (in relation to sticker )is now it will get a whole lot worse Keep burying your head in the sand and pretending everything is ok now

LOL you better hope iam correct because if there is no rebate here (TO SELL OFF OLD INVENTORY )there will not be a 2015 . With 800 plus (2013 and 2014 )sitting on showroom floors no dealer is going to order the 2015 and lose more money. I guess you missed the article about the plant being closed for an INDEFINATE AMOUNT OF TIME .Take a wild guess about why this was done

Since my last Viper was a Gen 4 (recorded the fastest published time for a stock Viper ever by Mus Must Mag in 2009) your dates appear to be a little off

Ps since you opened the door i paid 69 for the car with 10 miles on it Later that year Dodge ALLOWED the car to be included in the employees discount rebate and people were buying titled Gen 4 Verts for under 60 with 5 miles on them

you all have been noticing the uptick in Gen5's being sold and the dealers being more aggressive with discounts this month, correct? Just look at the update of new purchases on the forums. Also note the 2013 avail inventory is down from prior months. It should be very obvious the dealers are getting some help from corporate. I suggest if you are one the ones consistently complaining about price (nice way of saying you could not afford one), then now it is easy to get a GTS in the 99-109k range. Simply go to the dealer, offer them the price and be serious. If you want your best deal, make the offer on a 2013.

If not serious, then please stop complaining on the forums. If you have the money, and can find the car you want, just go make the deal happen. Not that hard.

Lastly, why should anyone care about what someone paid for a car 5yrs ago and particularly when the company was on the brink of going under? Just not sure why it is relevant today.

"Equalizing" through finding some sort of perceived fault is a common behavior. The homely girl says the pretty girl is stuck up, etc. For some, not all, of those complaining about price, it is easier to do the same thing rather than admit that they do not have the money. This group also minimizes the deferral of the enjoyment of the car while waiting for a price they can afford to appear. That's fine. But what ever happened to celebrating someone else's success? Are we increasingly becoming a nation of jealous people?

So to those who could afford to buy the car when they wanted it, good for you! And to those who need a reduced price and had to wait, now is the time to buy and, once you do, good for you too!

It's spring. If they don't sell now at these fire sale prices they never will.

“Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.”

― Mark Twain

Not that there are any "fools" posting back and forth endlessly in this thread, but this quote did come to mind...as do the virtues of the Ignore List if it will help one resist that urge

Um, let me settle this now. The confirmed dealer cash is $5,000 for the SRT and $10,000 for the GTS only for 2013's. This is a fact and can be confirmed by calling any SRT dealer. It's dealer cash, not a rebate, so he can do whatever he wants with it. Some dealers who have maybe two GTS's and two SRT's can combine the dealer cash into one car and take a chance or hit on the others, hence the $30k discounts on the loaded up models.

And if this amount doesnt do it more cash will come .As I posted previously the dealers HOLD ALL THE CARDS .Dodge doesnt care IF some people PAID sticker for the car . Dodge care if the dealers cant sell them and make money because if the dealer is losing money on these cars they will simply THREATHEN Dodge with withholding future sales orders untill something is DONE WITH THE Viper .

Badgts. Glad you don't work for Srt. You think a 100k car or more should sell for 50k it seems. Since you want to tell me what you did in 94 I was still in high school. Have had a Viper since I was 26 as a daily driver. You are a lot of noise thinks the car is not worth the money we get it stop posting and stop being a nay sayer to the ones in the market or who have a purchased a gen v since obvious the price you want to pay will not come around till 2020 on a 2013 if not latter.
nYou sure KNOW your Vipers I dont work for SRT but apparently i sure know a few folks that do

The simple fact Is 1BADGTS was correct and frankly knows a hell of a lot more than 99% of the posters on this site.

I think you guys have 1BAD all wrong. He is not knocking you for paying whatever you paid for it that's on you. He is expressing what he feels is wrong with the Viper. I feel he truly cares about the Viper and the future of it and as things are there will be no future for it.
I agree with him. Look at the sales, look at the cars sitting, its all facts. I personally will continue to look at this forum with the anticipation of reading that they will be re-designing the car to make it look like the future and not my 17 year old "96".

Exactly its not a game IF we all want the car to continue its got to sell .The ONLY way to do this is reduce it to the correct price
