what are you talking about? they still liked it

http://www.forbes.com/2003/12/29/cx_dl_1229test.html

"This respect for refinement and well-made goods makes us tend to whine when cars are even slightly under par, but the test drives featured here showcase some of the best new or almost-new cars on the market. We spend a great deal of time complaining about the hot, noisy and rude properties of the Dodge Viper, and ultimately pronounce that "we absolutely love it."

The article was 4 paages of bashing...
The side sills to hot
the a/c not hot enough
the car was very uncomfortable
you had to get out to put up the top ( not automatic)
gas guzzler
to much fumes
too loud
too hard to get in and out
interior was low budget

I cant remember everything but they loved it

It's funny how people discount the Viper because "it is not a luxury car" Waaaaa!

That guy's not gonna be happy unless he is in an SL55 with an automatic convertable top so he doesn't have to set his latte down to open it.

Other than his auto-ego this guy is pretty much right on target with the car. In real life the car is not THAT hot and not THAT uncomfortable...but he pretty much summed it up for me when he said "we absolutely love it".

Yeah...check out the Mustang Cobra for $40k less...it "only" has 110 fewer horses.
And just think....up to 30 mph in the Viper in FIRST gear...WOW. I tried that once in mine but got stopped for exhibition of speed and was almost arrested. Burned my darn leg on the side sill it was so hot when the cop made me get out. Almost passed out from my own Viper's exhaust fumes.
Where do they get the knuckleheads who do these reviews anyway?

Like I care what FORBES thinks.....my experience with Forbes....a couple of years ago I got a card in the mail to try their magazine..."NO STRINGS"....sent in the card got the free issue......then the issues continued to come along with bills for my subscription which I had not signed up for....than came the threatening letters, wanting me to pay for something that I didn't want, or order.....then it was turned over to a collection agency.....I will never pay them for a subscription that I didn't order....didn't want....I did look thru the first issue and found it totally boring and untimley....pretty much a waste of my time.....now they are down on my Vipers....SCREW 'EM.....they should do a survey of their own product, might find out it could use a few changes also....like maybe one article in the entire magazine worth spending my time reading....what a waste of pulp.....I would rather see the pulp used for ***** than their magazine....yes, I do hold a grudge...

How big of a hit did your credit rating take over the price of a magazine subscription?

They're often off-base (or incomplete) when it comes to investment-related articles (and this, they believe, is their specialty).

How could they possibly be able to grasp the concept of what a Viper is?

phoenix SRT....I could care less about a credit rating....I am old, pay cash for EVERYTHING I buy, own lots of businesses that are paid for and my wife is a Senior VP for a chain of banks....doubt Mr. Forbes will be a threat....Just ****** me of that a company will try to SCARE someone enough to send in a few $$$....I would go to court first.....I don't treat my customers that way, never did, never will....

I read the Forbes report, and all they said is true, but they never cut the car down, just pointed out a few not so desirables about the car. Overall they seem to like the car very much. Coming from them, this report sounds great. I think they pretty much understand that the car is the way it is because of its intended design.

well, I'll start by saying Dan Lienert is a bit of a wuss, partly 'cos his (AFAIK) parents write a p-whipped "He drove, She drove" column that the Detroit News runs. So I always take what they say with a big bag of rock salt.

That said, his write up is spot-on. I've driven four different SRTs from pre-production F2 prototypes to just-off-the-line 2004s, and he's largely correct. It's a rude, brash car that's faster than all hell. And it's what makes it a Viper, the whole experience. The original Viper was a bit of an homage to the old Cobra, and the SRT carries that on with a bit of refinement. I'd still give away major organs to own an SRT-10, but whatever... It was NOT a bad review at all.
