The following is a post from the Viper driver

"well here it is. I hope it works..
http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....C-5E3EACE6E5E2
This is the sequence of events..
1st run I hit the rev limiter in first, too busy looking at the Zo6 instead of the tach , then I miss 4th
2nd run he spins bad and shuts it down
3rd run he misses 3rd and shuts it down
4th run we start of at 40 and he starts edging me out and he lets off
its not the best runs but thats all we could muster, but to me the ZO6 is definitely faster on the highway, but from the dig its definitely the Viper, the traction and the torque is hard to overcome.."

I don't mean to sound like a **** but I put about as much stock in a street race as I do in a journalist opinion.

Get them on the dragstrip the Vette should edge the Viper by a nose.

A road course would be even more interesting.

I agree, I thought it would be interesting to post, especially given the fact that last video had the Viper losing by like 5 car lengths. Im not gonna sit here and pretend like I have never street raced, and I rarely have to let the Viper seperate the men from the boys. But I will say this, 99% of the time I look over at the car trying to race me, its some ***** who is going to wind up killing us. So I dont even bother. My friend and I are very experienced drivers, and we race eachother given he has some bad ass cars, but we both know what we are doing, and this is when its late and no ones on the road. I also believe a true drivers skill is measured not by drag racing, though there are skilled dragsters. It's just not safe. Sometimes you are forced to flex your muscle though.

I'm not one of those holier-than-thou-street-racing-bad guys. I'm just sayin' there are a few more uncontrollable variables on the street and it's more difficult to focus at the task at hand.

I've done so much track work that I can't remember the last time I did any street crap. It just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

i dont race on the street, i may goose the go pedal a little longer than i should every now and again. i get my kicks on the road course with my helmet on my harnesses on an ambulance near by and with a bunch of like minded people going in the same direction devoid of stop lights intersections and other traffic.

EXACTLY! A little spirited street driving is fine but the real fun is at the track.

Completely agree about street racing. Often it's young guys who can create risk to you, themselves and others on the street. On the track it's all business -- on the street it's a function of how respectful one is of their own safety and the safety of others around them. I would also think the Z on the track would nudge past the Viper stock for stock - beyond that we have expressed our opinions on countless occasions regarding our opinions of that car i.e. look, value, etc.

And wish we could in the near future :(
