I called two local dealers to get a quote and appointment info to service my Viper. One dealer said $600.00 the other said:

Flushing the coolant $125
Changing oil and filter $ 69
Gear box oil $125
Rear end oil $110
Lube chassis (free with oil)
New plugs $195

Total: $514

This about right?

Dont forget how expensive the fluids are for these cars... the above prices included fluids, they are not making much at all on labor.

I do concur though, plugs should be around 130-150 tops. Oil change is low, 80-100+ is typical for a dealer.

I bet they didn't figure it to be synthetic or how many quarts it was going to take correctly. However, if you can get them to stick to that $514 it works out as the plug change is high, so it equals out the lower oil change price. I pay one hour labor plus plugs for my plug change.

Yes, I know the OEM fluids are expensive. That's why I was only trying to show that the labor for the oil, tranny, and rear end is about 1.5 hours total. The total cost for the oil fluids I use is $175. All synthetic. The 0W-30 motor oil is actually quite a bit more than Mobil 1. The garage I use charged me $75 dollars this past September to change these fluids out. $250 total. I guess my point is that changing these fluids on a Viper is no different than any other car. Any good lube place or garage with a lift and people you know and trust can do it. Of course I am there with the car and monitoring the progress closely. The place I go to always lets me pitch in if I want.

The rear end oil is different from most cars. It will not drain since there is not a drain plug. A Viper tech told me it would take all day to change the fluid since he would have to take the rear end out at $70/hour to change the fluid. I asked him why he could not pump it out. He finally agreed and I helped him with a jerry rigged fuel pump and a battery charger and we pumped it out. If only I had a lift. I will do it myself on jack stands next time.
