When you take your car on vacation, how do you clean it? I won't have room to take everything with me, so what to do?

I just take a bottle of Meguiar's Quik Detailer and two different cotton towels. One for the paint and one for the wheels. Even if I have run into a terrible downpour, the detailer makes everything shine again.

Depends on the color the darker colors will scratch with quick detailers or cali dusters.Typically I will only clean it if there is a car wash available to wash most of the dust/grime off.Then I use lots of quick detailer and micro fiber.Glass cleaner etc..

Just put it through the free car wash you get with a fill-up. Clean as a whistle!

I pack a detail bag with microfiber towels, detailer, wheel cleaner, interrior cleaner, glass cleaner, etc. It goes in first and if there is any room left over my wife gets to pack a bag.

I cover my entire car with that blue painter's tape when I go on vacation. That way, when I get back home, I can just pull it all off and the car looks just like it did when I left.

I'm sure some quick detailer of some brand and some microfiber towels can be packed. I'm talking lots of miles though and my car is black, so really don't want to scratch the paint.
OK, here is the real question:
Will there be any washing areas at VOI 11? Or is everyone on their own and just go to an auto parts store and stock up upon arrival in SLC?

In past years, some entrapreureal person would take the initiative to set up shop in the parking area or close by.
This way you could get your Viper all spiffy while shopping in the Viperabilia area.
Some members even called in a portable detail company to go over their cars.

I either bring a bucket and ss mitt and go to a DIY or I will bring a 1/2 gallon of QEW and use the QEW method. Do a search on QEW Method if you do not know what it is, I posted it in Car Care.

I use Adam's waterless wash. Works well for cleaning off road grime you gather on the way to a show. I usually follow with a quick shine using the Detail spray.

I have had great luck with Adams too and buy it by the gallon. Be careful of those hotel towels though !!!

A few hotel towels do the job for me. They are typically even nice enough to offer them already stocked in my room and in various sizes, if not there's usually a cart hanging around with a lifetime supply. Avoid the one on the ground in front of the shower, it's typically not as soft as the others!

My two cents If I may...........
"Assuming " that we are going on a long trip, prior to the trip the car surface should be prepared real good that will be washed, pre waxed if needed and waxed. Unless you have a real good tire dressing leave them alone or apply a minimum amount.
For your trip you will need the following:
1-Car shampoo
2-Wash Mitt
3-Dried Cloth
4-Microfiber Towel
5-A good quality Spray Wax
Once you have arrived to your destination purchase one of those small foam coolers that cost around $2.00, we will use that as our wash bucket.
From here find your car wash that has a pressure water gun, prior to that fill the "provisional bucket" with clean water and your car shampoo.
Rinse the entire car, if you have concerns about the water pressure simply step back, do NOT put the soap that come out of the machine. All you need is the water, rinse the vehicle down, wash with your soap solution, rinse the soap off with the water gun and do the tires and wheels last. Dry the car and go over with your Spray Wax and a clean microfiber towel.
You can now dispose the foam cooler and tuck your tools away, this way it's easy, it's safe and the room to carry the products is minimum.

If used with common sense and the proper mitts and towels etc it will NOT cause any micro marring. I have used it on many black cars with no issues at all.
