A few generic Viper GTS questions...

Was wondering if anyone knew the answers or where I can get answers to these general GTS questions..
I did use the search feature for question 2, but didnt get a proper answer..

1. Is the Viper GTS a collectors car?
I know many think it is, since they dont make them any more, but is it really a collectors car based on the number of cars remaining and its value (depreciating or stable).

2. How many GTS built from 1996-2002 still survive?
I'm assuming many have been either crashed by inexperienced owners or salvaged and parted out.

3. What is it classified as ?
I've heard Vipers classified as everything from Muscle cars, to super cars to Exotics in various ads...
So Are they Supercars? Exotics? Muscle Cars? or Sports Cars?

The Viper certainly is a collector's car and a lot more. A Viper is a great addition to any exotic car collection given its history and unbelievable performance. Now that the Viper is approaching 20 years old, one can see that after a period of depreciation, the cars tend to stabilize in price.
I don't know the answer to question 2 but it certainly is not many. There were likely less than 10,000 GTS models produced during 96-2002 and probably 10% of those are gone.
The car is classified as all of the above in your question depending upon whom you talk to. It certainly is a super sports car that is exotic. I really don't classify it as a muscle car in the traditional sense as it is a 2 seater.

The Viper has been low volume production, so it is collectable. But, who cares? Love it for what it is.
No idea on question #2.
My insurance company classifies the Viper as a "premium performance" car. They are usually very reasonable to insure. Search around and you'll find plenty on this.

So Chris, are you looking to buy a GTS?

I bought a 2001 Sapphire Blue GTS last week ... I am super Stoked... :)

There were just over 7k GTSs made during that 7 year run. I have heard from a few who keep up with such things that over half are off of the road.

It is a collector's car. Which is good, because you can get a super low miles GTS that is almost brand new (wear wise) and then drive the living heck out of it like it deserves to be driven! :D
