Progress on diagnostics on sketchy pete

You have to be careful with the cam sensor as the depth is very important to get right. There isn't a stop or a shoulder or anything that you just install it till it bottoms or anything like that. There is a prescribed distance you're supposed to keep the sensor from the rib on the cam. Do...

Need to buy a scanner for a 94 Viper

Depends what you mean. The 94 wasn't OBD II, so it doesn't use a scanner in quite the same way. The 94 still used the DRB II I believe, though the DRB III can be used for some diagnostic work as well with the right add-on parts. The car does still use trouble codes of some variety though, and...

    Opinions Needed

I think when the owners occurred could have something to do with it to, as well as your plans for the car. You figure the market recently was crazy for Vipers, so I could very well have seen two to three sales over just the past few years as people could have been trying to buy and flip them...

    Suggestion for cam?

Depends. Ultimately speaking I think it comes down to what you consider drivability. For the gen 3, you could put something like the comp coupe cam in and maybe not affect things too much. I think Prefix sells them on their website now. Alternatively, there are several shops out there that...

$50 clutch slave cylinder hack for the unobtainable 1992-2010 Factory unit and LUK LSC134

Good to know! I just snapped the quick connect off of mine back when I was putting my engine back in recently. Went looking for a replacement and no one had stock anywhere. I remembered that I had bought the same throwout for my 67 Dart with a T56 swap though, and on that one I had replaced...

    Throttle

Yeah, that's pretty common of these cars. The short exhaust and side exit makes it more obvious to the ear as well. Typically that's just some unburnt fuel in the pipes. Some people really like the sound and will even tune to have more of it.

    2005 exhaust question

Some brands will have the logo on them, but not sure how many. I know the Borla set I had had the logo imprinted on the case. I think Magnaflow does as well, but not sure about Corsa or Bellinger.

    Engine Ticking

Vipers are pretty notorious for valvetrain noise in general, but always hard to say on something like this. The open vents in the hood and the extra valves you get with the 10 cylinders certainly don't help. There are other things that can sound like a tick as well you might double check...

    Gen 3 Clouded Fog Lamps

Wow, that is something. Don't know that I've ever seen that before. Now I'm tempted to poke around my lights and see what the housings look like. I'm half tempted to suggest taking a hair dryer or something to them to see if heat changes things at all, but I'm not sure that would really do...

    Throttle

What exactly do you mean by slow? Like, the car doesn't want to rev up at all or there seems to be a delay between pedal input and engine response? The 06 should still be cable driven throttle body, not drive by wire, so in that regard at least it should be fairly instant. Wondering if maybe...

Ooh, sounds like fun! Certainly the right time of year to be out there. Enjoy yourself!

    Gen 3 Clouded Fog Lamps

That is interesting. I have 130,000+ miles on my 04 with what I think are still factory fog lamps (I've never replaced them at least and I bought the car with around 40,000 miles on it) and mine are still pretty clear. I think most light housings tend to have a vent on them somewhere though...

Gen 1 Questions (fog lights and parts)

Don't have enough experience with bulbs to help with that question yet, but for gen 1 parts diagrams you can check Roe Racing. They have a downloads page with all the parts manuals through the years. I saved them all to my computer for easy reference. I think the club had them posted on the...

We certainly wouldn't mind. Always nice to keep people in the know about the club if possible.

    Turn Signal Indicator Not Lighting

It's been a while since I pulled the dash on my mom's 94 to paint it, so can't recall how difficult of a job it was. Thinking you'd probably have to do similar to get to any instrument cluster bulbs, but I suppose there's always a chance you might be able to reach up behind it from the pedals...

Michelin All Season 4 Versus 4S

Wow, I didn't realize the PSS has been around so long. They have been a phenomenal tire though. Hard to ask for much more out of them. They are great on the track and on the street, so hopefully the 4S lives up to them. I finally got my engine all back together after my latest issue, so...

Are the side exhaust covers insulated from the factory?

Interesting to know that that seems to be a pretty good solution for the earlier cars though. Always nice when you can use factory parts, though wonder if they didn't do some trimming to get those to fit on the earlier car.

Michelin All Season 4 Versus 4S

Yeah, I've got a while before I wear out the sets I have, but the PS4S seems like a nice replacement if it comes to that. I wonder if they won't phase the PSS out in favor of the new one eventually, but I guess only time will tell. The Continentals look interesting as well, but I think they...

Gen III Passenger Door Handle Spring

Don't suppose you still have the old assembly you took out? If you do I'd probably just try taking it apart to see how it goes together and if you can find a matching spring for it. Depending on the spring though it could be interesting. Not sure if it's the style that wraps around a pin with...

Are the side exhaust covers insulated from the factory?

Those sound very similar to what I have on my gen 3. I wonder if someone retrofitted the later model heat shield to your car maybe? The gen 3+ shields are pretty much held on the same way, just a pair of screws at the bottom corners. Mostly just there to keep it in place while installing as...

Michelin All Season 4 Versus 4S

My dad had an 03 with Invos on it when he bought it. They seemed like a nice enough tire, though I didn't put many miles on them in the seat. I drove them on a track back to back with my car and they seemed to have a very similar feel, at least to my inexperienced hands. On the road I thought...

Michelin All Season 4 Versus 4S

I would think you'd probably be fine with the AS4 for that. I've had the PSS on my car pretty much since I bought it and have really liked them. They were a great all around tire and have worked for me pretty much year round. I know you're not supposed to drive them in winter, but I've never...

    Easy Cleaning

Here's a quick reference picture of what I was talking about: Just look up windshield cleaning tool and you can find them all over the place. You can really make one out of a spatula and a rag as well if you really wanted (I've seen it done).

    Easy Cleaning

I have seen products advertised that are kind of like a swiffer sort of wand thing that either already has a microfiber pad on them or you can clip a rag. Basically just makes wiping steeply slanted windshields and stuff like that down. Could work for the rear window maybe, but it's still...

    Front Chin bumper scraping problem

Has the car had any suspension work done? It seems odd that you would be hitting it in so many places, so almost sounds like someone might have lowered it. You could always buy adjustable coilovers to raise it up a tad though. Less typical for sure, but no reason you couldn't as far as I'm aware.
