Yeah, maybe if your first love was some 50+ 'cougar' ... and these days, even the young 20-somethings are getting enhanced ... it just depends on whether you like to keep it stock, or go for mods ...
... in fact, for some folks there maybe be a trade-off as to the cost of the mods for the...
Why can't the 2008 Viper ACR run in the Rolex GrandAm GT class? The Corvette C6 is allowed??? I copied the new 2008 rules (published 11/08/07) and it notes the following:
GT REGULATIONS
General Class Explanation and Purpose
The GT class for 2007 will be comprised of two distinct...
No way. If the wanted to shut down the party, they absolutely did not NEED to do an ACR. They have a new 600HP Viper for 2008 -- that would have been enough for a last hurrah. The ACR coming now supports the idea that they have future plans for the Viper.
... now if we could just get some...
I agree completely.
I recall driving at Las Vegas speedway last year and being told 'don't lift' (off of the gas) as I came to the end of the straight and entered the banking. That goes against instinct. But think about the implications for the ACR's aero characteristics.
The reason why I...
Honestly, I never really liked that concept ... don't care for the Comp Coupe either. I guess I just don't like the big, NASCAR-looking, rear ends to those cars. The ACR is the way to go -- more true to the Viper's character. :2tu:
I went to the San Antonio auto show today too. Same story. No Vipers at all. Mostly dealer cars, with the exception of an Audi R8, which looked pretty cool in-person.
I did take a closer look at the '08 vettes. The new, 'upgraded' interior still doesn't seem all that nice to me -- still very...
Thanks. I wish there was info posted from Dodge as to whether it can or will run in GT1.
I think this ACR would be awesome in some near-stock class of racing, where few other cars could match it in near-stock form. That would really show how great the car is.
Glad you found the 'time' to share your 9th post here ...
This thread is merely a response to some Corvette yahoos (trolls) that ran over here within hours of the ACR being posted and immediately started with pictures and comparisons to a future ZR1 ...
... were it not for that, I much...
The Z06s already have a 'fragile' reputation. Now there gonna put 650HP through that drivetrain.
The Viper, on the otherhand, has proven to be robust, and Dodge just beefed it up. It will be interesting to see if ZR1s run against ACRs in any organized racing series ... if so, let's see at the...
The Viper beats the Z06. Period. Agreed?
Now, how will the ZR1 compare to the ACR? Who knows? The ACR will probably be 1-2 tenths faster in the 1/4 mile, mostly due to better hook-up from the tires, which will make it 2-4 tenths faster than the Z06.
The Viper has always been...
The 2008 SRT-10 Viper is faster than the 2008 Z06. That's an established fact -- across the automotive media. Maybe not by much, but it is faster. And importantly, these are the cars that most of us will ever drive on the street, and the Viper wins. :2tu:
The Chevy folks where counting on...
You are absolutely so full of it!
Nothing said about your earlier post has anything to do with what you know or don't know. You may know a lot, or you may know squat. Many folks here know what they speak of. ... THE POINT IS THAT YOU ARE BEING DISHONEST ABOUT BEING OBJECTIVE. Only having four...
Time out.
Your credibility is in serious question, showing up now with only 4 total posts. But ignoring that (just for a moment), let's look at some of your information.
Where do you come by this handy library of lap times at VIR? It seems like your information was originally recorded and...
Use your imagination, you'll have that ACR stripped down in no time ... light-weight battery, alloy radiator, etc. and wasn't there a carbon fiber version of the new hood posted on here a while ago ... a CF hood would look sick in the middle of that black paint scheme and a red stripe down on...
More news from Motor Trend:
"In its signature two-tone red and black livery, the ACR looks nothing short of menacing, and a red leather accent to the top of the steering wheel adds an extra touch of class. An optional driver's side racing stripe is available on the red or black sprayed car and...
Well, it did, and I am. And the 3.33s definitely felt quicker than the 3.07s.
But I will tell you that being a convertible, with side exhaust seems to exaggerate any differences -- your ears hear how much the engine is winding up (more so with the 3.45s), and your mind seems to expect the car...
Let's get back to talking cars here!
... but OMG, I must ask, What in the f___king hell are you smoking? We are who we are HERE in AMERICA ... because we DO value life -- no such events are ever insignificant -- and we take them seriously. :usa:
No problem here. I love this ACR, but being realistic, there's no way I would buy it over a 'standard' 2008 Viper (and that's considering I still could change my order, if I wanted to). Simple reason, I don't plan to track the car enough to justify the added cost and also what you give up:

Torque is not static, i.e. the torque curve is never perfectly flat from initial rpms. The is also an issue of momentum. HP measures the rate at which the engine develops torque. If an engine is momentarily over-loaded, and bogs down, even in 2nd gear, then the engine is momentarily 'trapped' at...
I had 3.45s in my '05 with about 475 rwhp. The car moved through the gear too easily (not enough load to gain the full power of the engine, before each up-shift, which came too quickly). I then switched to 3.33s -- perfect -- and definitely better than the stock 3.07s.
I would like to see more HP too, but I'll guess that the Mopar stuff is not street-legal for emissions.
I don't agree the the Viper automatically loses with 'only' 600HP -- not all HP is the same -- where does the Vette produce it's power? low? or only at higher rpms? What will the torque...
