Well, as a follow up, I drove around and found a very clean establishment with two young "techs" standing around with nothing to do. Having never tested a Viper, they treated it as if it was made of heavenly matter. These guys really enjoyed looking the car over while listening to the lumpy...
Lots of gimmicky designs come and go over the years and I have tried a few only to end up going back to the tried and true. If professional racers and fleet vehicles use them year after year, I tend to accept their cumulative field testing. When all is said and done, the spark plug's job is a...
When you get a "Smog Test Only Station" notation on your CA registration, do you trust any one of them, or do you try to find one that handles high performance cars? Since they dyno the car, I am leery of some smog hack handling my snake. :nono: Recommendations?
Well my registration is dependent on a smog "test only" station. Are there any places you guys recommend to have my Viper smoged in the East Bay Area? Is one station as good as the next for Vipers?
In my area I came across an 08 in the high 50's with very low mileage. I recently saw a 95 RT for under 20. Great times for new buyers with cash. If yur selling though, well...?:(
One smoldering volcano puts out enough CO2 and a whole host of other greenhouse nasties that dwarf what us petty humans can do over a number of years. How about all of the active volcanism on the globe right now? All of the 'natural' sources of greenhouse gasses are conveniently left out of...
If the oil ring fits so tight that there is no gap cold, upon heating and subsequent expansion, the ring could fail. Generally ring specs allow for some expansion which comes in the form of a specified gap. It is possible that the coefficient of expansion between the ring material and the...
I live in the green happy San Francisco Bay Area and have been pleasantly surprised by how well the car has been received--even in Ferrari-land, Marin County. Lots of chicks--green and otherwise-- just eyeballing the sexy lines of my gts. There have been a couple of grouches, but no worse than...
This has to be uninformed BS. The Viper may be many things but a shop queen isn't one of them. Do they eat gas? yes, but no more than an SUV. Shop time for Vipers usually means mod time. I consider mine to be bullet proof.
I wonder where they got their numbers; I would be interested in their...
Yeah, I was wondering if I could just cut, bend and re-weld a small area near where my right foot rests against the foot-well. I have moved the seat back and adjusted the pedals as far back as possible, but i still get the slight feeling of riding a bike sideways down the road. On longer...
Has anyone been able to decrease the left offset in the driver side footwell? I could use some room to the right; one inch would do. I know on the 08's the position is more neutral. How was this accomplished? How close is the engine/tranny in that area? Solutions?
Go to Valaya Racing in Santa Jose for service and 'stuff'. They beat on race Vipers regularly so they don't need to get their jollies hammering on our "tame" street cars.
Those guys are great. When I leave my car there I don't worry a lick. :2tu:
Sounds familiar, my GTS is a bit balky going into 3rd under a hard press--particularly when hot. I had the motor mounts inspected, the clutch fluid changed, and race mix gear oil put in. Situation unchanged. My Viper tech linked the problem to the aluminum shifter fork in the tranny beginning...
I have a 98 GTS with 20k on the clock. I tend to drive it about once a week year round. Is that frequent enough to keep it limber and lubed with a minimum of deterioration? Other cars that I have owned got a bit groggy sitting around that much, but the Viper has tolerated it pretty well thus...
To a lot of us "older" dudes a Viper is still an expensive car, since we remember when the dollar was worth so much more and cars were seen as relatively expensive. Now there are plenty of average cars out there that are more expensive. You can get a nice Gen 2 for the cost of a loaded...
