I got something very similar at Big Lots: it had the same 4-finger prongs to catch a vent fin. But instead of the magnet, it had a spring loaded horizontal clamp which work perfectly.
And it cost $5
Will be interesting to see how long the rubber fingers last...
HAN is a big deal here. But it is aimed at <1977 cars.
However, there is a cruise (yes, cruising the main drag) in Sparks NV on Tuesday, August 8th.
It is along the main drag, Victorian Ave. from 15th street to Pyramid.
I'll be there in "Bad Viper" 96 GTS, all black w/red stripes.
Ya, back in NV again now looking for holder for my Galaxy S4 - it is now my GPS.
Will be checking WalMart and BestBuy but shudder to think of the limited selection and probably high price.
Are there any that are really integrated into the dash/windshield shape?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
PS...
Want to explore putting Paxton on my Viper.
Looking for decent cheap for preliminary results and then mo' money versions for actually ordering parts.
Method of Characteristics should be a min requirement.
Thanks
Tom
The most likely way to destroy a tire is cruising on the interstate with a slow leak - the tire is destroyed before you realize it.
Next step: Which system to use? I'd like real tire pressure readout for all 4 tires.
96, that has 17's right?
I haven't heard back from Michelin Classic yet where I asked them about the 17 and 18's - as said previously, they may make runs every 10-12 years.
But until then, your only option may be to scrounge used tires. A lot of the Viper wrecking yards typically will not...
Speaking of squirreling away some vintage tires, I have a new set of Yokohama 175/70r12 A008's with the tape still on the tires. They are about 26 years old. (I purchased 2 set from an old local tire dealer, used one set and they gripped awesome.)
I have a Studebaker Super Lark 1963 with 40...
Michelin Classic makes a couple sizes of MXX3 and Pilot Sports available through Coker Tire but not in Viper sizes. (Coker is licensed to produce Michelin Classic tires in the USA.)
I talked to Coker and they said Michelin never throws a mold away and theoretically could add Viper sizes to...
Looks like only possible options for Rival-S's with a larger front - and they would have the same diameter as the stock 275/35's.
If 18x11's, I thinking definitely yes.
Toyo r888's 295/30's would just barely be OK with 18x10's.
Thinking the Rival-S will last longer than the r888 and be...
The car is currently in Carson City, NV where the Virginia City Hill Climb is.
After the event, I plan to bring the car back to PA.
I'm now leaning towards touring my way back and not shipping. But if I shipped, I don't think there is any way to get a set of tires inside the car. Can't put...
I have a 96 GTS in NV that I want to bring back to PA, however I'm started the process to keep it there one more year for the next Virginia City Hill Climb.
It has 18" Kinesis K28's with a old set of MXX3's just I just drive around on that still have a ton of tread - and I plan on running them...
Old thread but thought would add the comparison of Iridium -v- Copper Thermal Conductivity: 147 -v- 401. (FYI, platinum is 70 and steel is 43)
So the answer is Ir is not as good a Cu.
However, you can achieve the same heat transfer by increasing the area and it looks like the Thin Wire Ir...
HaHa - I did and for many days. I lost a rear MXX3 due to negligence (low pressure) so I had to use the donut to get the car home. The other tires were at least 50% and there was no way to match a new one since the MXX3 is discontinued. I searched everywhere trying to find a used MXX3 and...
I guess the bottom line is that for the necessary "crowbar" that I want, it translates into the length of stroke of the shift knob.
I don't know where the OE shifter fulcrum is, but assuming you could move it both up and down, that would allow this stroke to be achieved at different shifter...
Yeah, it was the VEC1 allright! When I suspected bad piercing connectors (installed around 1998), I decided to solder all the connectors at the ECU.
The MAP signal wire which is cut and the VEC1 is "inserted," one of the crimp connectors FELL OFF THE WIRE!
Over half the strands of the wire...
Did it. Made a 2" threaded sleeve and a 1.5" threaded rod. The MGW is now 2" taller. Just drove it and LOVE it!
Looks like I can't upload any more pics. Not clear what the rules are. Too bad, external hosting usually results in eventual loss. Bad for informative threads.
I was a notorious and very successfully sleeper (supercharged Studebaker Super Lark) back in the 70's. Since nothing will ever top that (getting beat by a Studebaker???? the Horror... the Horror...) I would never ever, ever consider street racing someone with my Viper (can't win even if you...
I was just checking some 19 sizes. First tire dealers have no Viper listings for 2013 and above. But found some 2014 specs: 295/30r18 and 355/30r19
I'm running 2000 sizes: 275/35r18 and 335/30r18
REARS:
There are 345/30r19 and 355/30r19 which are 1.24 and 1.48" greater in diameter...
I've wrestled with tire pressure and alignment for decades with regard to wear - nothing worse that burning the centers or insides and then not knowing how far off you are and how far you need to go to achieve the correct setting. You can do alignments, but there is no analytical method to...
96 GTS heads, cam, headers, full exhaust.
STFT's jump around -5% both banks (-2 to -9% spikes caught visually)
Had to bump the VEC1 Hi to get good <12:1 A/F and bump the Lo to get rid of idle hang.
I suspect the ECU was not tuned due to these codes.
QUESTION: Anyone see any issues here that...
