Oh man, I am so with you on this one. I just got mine a bit less than 1 month ago and I can't stay out of it. And although I have been sideways a couple of times, I am learning that these cars, with some moderation and respect, are actuallly very predictable and the cornering(which is all we...
Yes, for sure. Next time, let me know and check us out for lodging while you are at it- www.sweetwaterspa.com
I am going to thill in Oct with a Sacto roadster club and am really looking forward to it. Hope to get together sometime for a cruise. John
I live up north on the coast, but there are no Vipers around and I would love to see, hear, talk about mods, etc with some folks who have been there. Let me know if there are any such gatherings, thanks.
Carl, good write up! I am in the same position as you are having just purchased my first Viper. Theses cars don't leave you very neutral do they? There are some refinements that I miss but hey, there is always someting, at least in all the cars I have owned so far. I know what you mean about the...
Thanks for the tip, had a good talk with Sean this afternoon about this and other options, all very helpful and at reasonable cost too. BTW, I love the handle, HoosierDaddy, very cool play on words.
Chuck, was having just the fronts done(good budget choice for me as I just goe the car and have some other mods clamoring for attention too!) a substantial improvement in stopping capacity?
Does front kit only and ss lines give almost the same stopping power as the 4 wheel kit? I guess I could always add the back kit later too, if I felt it necessary and when I could afford it. thanks, I'll check out their site
Well, at 8 grand thats more than I want to spend. I am leaning toward the 4 wheel stop tech kit as a max investment or possibly even the lines, rotors and pads. If any other posters reading this have done brake mods short of the full 4 wheel kits, please throw down your impressions. thanks
Joe, thanks for the tip, I did not know ABS retrofit was available. Which part gave you the most benefit? Can't be too thin or stop too soon... or something like that!
Which seems to be half the board. Well, just got back from my second longer jouney in my new ride and wanted to share some comments and ask a few questions. While there were many times I missed the precison and quickness of my euro ride, the Viper's power and torque are truly addicting. I remain...
Thanks for the help. Got it! Now for a drive. I do like the hardtop but it will not be on much is my guess as I got the rt10 for the open cockpit. Nice cozy (and warm!!) cabin with top off sounds just right.
Cruser, I too an a new Viper owner and put down my first impressions earlier, should be a few pages back and I think was titled first impressions. I agree with the torque comment and my other car is sc'ed and puts out about the same hp and a bit less torque than the Viper but it puts you back...
Sorry, this may seem obvious, but I am a new owner and former owner could not locate owners manual yet, is out of town and I am unsure how to remove hardtop. I did a search, but nothing came up. Please give the newbie some love here!!thanks, John
Not one and the same, the 8cyl is sc'ed 540/6 which is the untouchable garage queen, at least so far. The M car is on the block and the Viper is lookin BEEaauutiful in that space. Although the longer it takes to sell the M, who knows, maybe I'll just build another garage!
Wellll, powerful experience would best sum it all up! We drove over the coastal mountains to meet the transport truck(Schilli Specialized, good price, good people)as their truck was too long to negotiate our swithbacks. The car arrived and was every bit as expected(cherry). I had a friend...
Can anyone who post a pic of their setup. I have 99 RT10 and like the feel of the leather knob but the shaft is way too long. Would love to see the stock knob on a set up that is 2 or 3" shorter. Anyone?
Thanks all for the input and especially JonB. That was exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Are 3.55 gears readily available or are they hard to find as well? If you have them, please email me about cost, condition etc. thanks, John
Reddog, LMAO, all too true and seems to be a continuing condition. I was thinking about that as I await my new Viper (coming today)!!! These cars are in the top 1/2% of performance cars yet once you start on these message boards, the stock car is suddenly at the bottom of the pile! Great...
