I'd be willing to sell my HRE 545r's. have Pirelli p zeros and come with one new rear tire. Setup is almost perfect condition. You can see pics in my photo gallery. pM me if interested.
I am in the same boat only I went to put mine on and realized they rub against the emergency brake and they are 19s in the rear. Got the relocation kit coming. Cant wait to test out the sticky tires.
Definitely going to take a bit of time to get used to this look.
My other setup...
The codes for the wheels must be read and then manually put into your cars computer. believe me I delt with the issue for along time until Dan at Viper Specialty finally squared it away for me.
A decent compound and wax will do it. By the way it isn't plastic. The side sills are actually aluminum. I striped the paint off of mine andd polished it to a shine.
Bob your car has some sick mods but I am with you regarding the heat soak issue. That trap speed should be in the high 120 to low 130 range with that kind of power.
With a spun bearing, a AEM which likely requires some significant expertise to dial in for a new engine, it would be worth much. $20-$25 is my guess...
Another issue which I am surprised no one noticed, is the sticker. It is facing the wrong way. 2004 came with Red Calipers so why would someone have to refinish them and put the sticker on the wrong way? To top it all off, install them with wrong bolts.... I would check over the entire car.
Correct. My rear HRE 20 with a Pirelli 25 pr0file is actually shorter than the stock 19 inch setup. Just because the diameter of the rim is bigger it doesnt mean you have increased overall height.
If your car is stock or has bolt ons you can go with a tune from any of the Viper specialists on this site. I recommend Viper Specialty, Roe Racing or Dan Cragin. You don't need to go custom outside of any advanced builds.
