arrghh...DUDE...wasn't asking for advice. Was and still am looking for the subject of this thread. I didn't claim to be a know it all or anything else. Your posts are abrasive and then you respond like this when somone responds in kind.
Grow up.
"Sorry, but if you're looking for a cheap method of getting your hands on a Gen3 you're taking the wrong approach. "
Well, thanks for the pearls of wisdom but I've purchased an SRT like this once already and I'm confident I'll find another.
Many folks don't want to bother the time and energy...
Yes they are really dear and I'm not sure they are worth the extra dough....I had looked in a group buy before and it blew....like if you buy $10k in lifts they'd knock 100 bucks off ;)
I'm looking for a Gen 3 with a blown motor. I know its a stretch of course since most engine work would be covered under warranty. But I figured I'd reach anway.
Looking for a new project!
Thanks...T
The paxton does not have a variable boost setting. You need to add a variable blowoff or change pulleys...
Its been said 1000 times. Custom tuning is essential.
I can tell you that my engine should be 1000 plus RWHP and I am putting an accumsump with my installation as well. Sort of a poor mans dry sump. You can bet that hard acceleration might cause short term oil pick up problems. Nothing that I would worry too much about. Trust me...with 900 rwhp you...
That Ebay clutch is not an RPS from what I can tell.
The clutch took out the motor because when it exploded it did so with such a force that it basically vaporized the bellhousing. There were pieces EVERYWHERE. When I opened the hood it had torn up the wiring, crunch the headers, 02 sensors...
Mine exploded on a NA engine making around 550 HP at 5000 RPM. Took out the motor, tranny and a whole lot more. Looks like it cracked where the ceramic pucks get mounted.
Daniel I'd like to hear a little more about that clutch. My new motor should be well north of 1,000 hp and the one thing i've not worked out yet is the clutch...
Yea for those that want to take their LIFE into their hands. Ask all the folks that had an RPS clutch explode on them. It cost me a motor/tranny and a lot more. Ask West Coast Viper that had an RPS clutch explode on the dyno and almost had it burn to the ground.
BTW - my first phonecall to RPS...
Well boys. I'm FINALLY making progress. After having a nightmare of a time with Arrow - I found another premier Viper engine builder who is doing the work. Should be a 533CI stroker!
Received some goodies from the UPS man today!
First pic is Billet Main Caps, Jesel shaft mounted rollers and...
Which gaskets are you using? The ones that come with the belangers or the stock gaskets? The stock steel gaskets are better than the ones that come with the belanger. Use those...
I'm looking into this this week. Crower, Jesel and Schubeck all make lifters for our application. It appears the Schubeck might be the best due to there needle bearingless design. Not sure what the benefits on a stock motor might be
That is an EXCELLENT question that I do not know the answer too.
I bought the Jesels from Jesel direct. I'm actually a dealer and buy direct. I can help you out if you need it. They are one trick son of a gun!
Spoke with Mr. Schubeck on Friday. Super nice guy - although when speaking to him I...
Well....this is going on a full build up motor. forged internals, billet mains, ported built heads with titanium valves, forced induction. Should be well north of 1,000 hp...so the benefits will be felt ...especially at high rpms...
Thanks. Spoke with Mr. Schubeck this afternoon - I'm going to think over the weekend, talk to my builder, hopefully get more input from the forum and make a decision early next week.
Well - I finally got a hold of Jesel today and ordered my J2K shaft mounted roller setup for Gen 3. Got a 1.75 ratio on intake and exhaust. I plan on using the stock lifters as the Jesel are just STUPID expensive.
Anyone have any experience with these?
Well - I've been waiting for my builder to finish my short block for some time now. I'm running out of patience and I'm thinking of using someone else but I need a new block and crank. I wonder if anyone here knows where I could find a gen 3 block and crank for sale? Any suggestions? Someone...
Thanks. I can't wait to get it done. We are also CNC porting the heads and finishing them by hand. New Titanium intake valves, stainless exhaust valves, berilium seats. It will have a roller setup and should rev quite freely. My next project after this is going to be a TT SRT Viper.
That is good to know! I'm currently having a short block with all forged components, hardended crank, billet caps etc (along with a ton of other stuff ;) built should be done before Christmas. I plan on being able to run 10 lbs of boost relatively safely. Will post dynos when we are finally...
