    Tire size Limit?

The 285s work just fine on the front. The only concern that you should have is when the hood is open in the front, if you drive the car and steer the wheels, the tires will hit the lower corner of the wheel cut out in the hood, and possibly break it off.

Clear Bra's, anyone using this product?

Re: Clear Bra\'s, anyone using this product? It's called 3M Paint Protection Film. It cost around $600 to $800 to have a Viper fully done on the front, side sills, mirrors, and behind the rear wheels. Or, you can try to do it yourself by buying the material from a distributor. It takes a while...

    Exhaust Removal Question

Squirt a generous amount of WD40 into the joint before trying to pull it apart. With low mileage on a 2000 car, you should not have a problem getting the exhaust apart.

Has anyone considered the upside to DC discontinuing the Viper?

If you see a significant increase in price in the new Gen III Viper and you probably will, you could see the resale price of the existing Gen I and Gen II Viper increase.

    Racing and taxes

If you do this, you will most likely send up a flag for an annual audit by the IRS. Any business involving racing that does not make a profit, and has tax write-offs will find this to be true. If you don't mind the inconvenience and your books are clean, then go for it.

    Frame alignment. Please help!

It could also be one of the hub bearings going bad and causing drag on that wheel. Spin them on a hoist when they are all warmed and see if there is any drag.

    "clunk" in reverse

Re: \"clunk\" in reverse This can happen after washing the car and after the car has sat overnight. The brake pads will rust bond to the rotors and what you are hearing is the bond breaking loose. I have had this happen and you can see the pad's rusty outline on the rotors.

    Dead battery

Here's what usually happens. Many owners leave the hood open when the car is in the garage. This activate a high current draw in the alarm system. You will notice that the small lights on the inside door latches do not turn off. If you have everything closed on the car, these lights should go...

    Dead battery

You may charge at the positive post with the red plastic cover, under the hood, and ground to the frame connection just below. You do not need to disconnect anything to charge the battery at this location. You probably have lost your computer memory and will find that the car, after starting...

    adding differential drain plug

Joe - It is very difficult to get all of the fluid and metal particles out with a vacuum pump. You will find that the gears are very close to the fill hole and that you will need a flexible rubber hose. That's a good idea regarding matching the fill plug and I will look into it. I am also...

    adding differential drain plug

I soon will take out my differential to add a drain plug, but I have some questions. 1. What size do you drill and tap the hole? 2. Do you use a Time-Sert to line the hole with steel so that it will not wear out? 3. If using a Time-Sert will you get a galvanic reaction between the steel...

Dealers answer to my hood not staying open is

Yes, the springs are probably weak. This happened to my 97 GTS and I was told that some springs did not get the proper heat treat and were taking a permanent set with use. Get them replaced and you will fix the problem.

    Xenon Headlights

I would wait a while. I will bet that someone this Winter will have a kit that is cheaper than theirs for the Viper. The prices on these HID systems will have to come down before many would buy the product.

Service Engine Soon light came on!

This could be any number of problems. The most common being the O2 sensors in the exhaust. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, they could be burned out or a bad connection. It's best to take it to a dealer and have them check it with their computer, which will locate the problem in about 2 minutes.

    Ceramic coating headers?

I have the same B&B headers and Borla 3 in. exhaust. I used the 2000 deg. JetHot coating on the headers, mufflers and cats.. I have had no problems with chipping, and sill temperatures and underhood temperatures are very low.

Battery tenders on sale for $7.99 at

Kurt, If it's not a Deltran then I would not buy it. Some of the other battery chargers do not cut off properly and will over charge the battery, causing an early failure.

How to change a side sill?

They are very easy to remove. Remove the four hole plugs in the door with a very thin putty knife. They have release tabs 180 deg apart, so just slide the knife under the edge of the plug and lift gently. The one under the door is a little tougher to get out, so just take your time. If you break...

Fix proceedure for side sill loose screws (long)

Here's a source for the 10-32 x 3/4 stainless button head screws, the #10 3/4 in. stainless washers, the #10 stainless lock washers, the plated 10-32 steel rivet nuts (their no. 7450), and the 19/64 dia. drill bit. You will need 18 fasteners each and 1 drill bit, but get some extra fasteners...

This is probably the older obsolete unit that was replaced by the newer Battery Tender Plus, but for that price you can't go wrong.

    Pressure Washer?

You guys are all full of it. I have a red 97 GTS and have used a 1900 psi hot water (110 deg. F) pressure washer since I have owned the car. I will defy you to tell me that my paint is any less glossy than a new Viper right off the show room floor. I use Zainos and get asked at every track...

Fix proceedure for side sill loose screws (long)

Are you tired of the sill covers constantly coming loose and sheet metal screws falling out on all Vipers? The screws can easily get into the rear tires, since they drop in front of the rear wheels. If you have had the covers off once or twice, the self taping no. 8 sheet metal screws will...

    Chrome Fire extinguisher

Ken - I think that Sean Roe sells them in a chromed Halon unit. Make sure that you get Halon, since you don't want the powder type for a car fire. They leave a real mess, while the Halon leaves no residue. Try him at 904-733-5469
