I carefully checked the P/S fluid level on the stick and it was actually 1/3 inch above the cold line "C", so even though it looks low to the eye, it's probably at an acceptable level. It's amazing how much space there is on that stick between C and H (Hot line). No sign of leaks and I wonder if...
Jeez! Just when I was thinking I'm lucky (in a very weird way) that I don't own a Ferrari or a Lambo, you are telling me Vipers have burned down as well because of fluid leaks :o
Good to know, and pretty scary too.
That (in addition to the excessive heat and lackluster performance) is exactly why I first thought it may be a cat issue.
However, the smell is more like something burning than rotten eggs, plus I am 95% confident the p/s liquid in my car has the exact same smell...
The smell sensor in my nose tripped a CEL in my brain. ECU begs to differ...
I've had my car for more than a year and have gotten pretty used to the normal smells and other quirks of a lightly modified gen 3. Last couple of times I've laid more heavily into the throttle on the highway I've been...
Forgot to mention the most important mod you'll need to make before anything else. If you still have the stock run-flat Michelins (kind of hard to tell from your picture) you need to ditch them fast. 9+ years on that terrible hard rubber is flat out dangerous with these cars' low end torque...
I've heard both 10w30 and 0w40 being the recommended Gen 3 oils. I'm not even sure there was a '-40' viscosity back in 2003 when the first Gen III's came out. I'm sure I'd have similar experience with Mobil 0w40, but in any case there definitely is an improvement from going 10w30 -> 0w40.
Welcome and congratulations on a sharp looking car! I'd say the most common bolt-on performance upgrades include filters, headers, high-flow cats, exhaust, tune, 3.55 (or 3.73) gears. The tune (especially in combination with exhaust mods) is probably the best bang for the buck with Gen III's.
Put on 500+ solid miles of driving, including multiple hard accelerations in pretty warm 85+ high humidity weather, after having Roanoke Dodge put in Pennzoil Ultra 0w40 in my 2005 (big thank you to John Gastman who treated me like the sultan of Brunei while I was there and showed me all the Gen...
Re: Can anyone post pics of their BLUE GTS with Razor or 6 spoke Gen 3 or Gen 4 wheel
This thread has a few pictures of razors on a GTS, although it's a red / white stripe. Maybe someone can help photoshop them blue...
Most of these UPS truck / tractor comparisons apply to Vipers' exhaust note at idle. I don't think anyone in their right mind can say the same about Vipers' note at full song.
To be quite fair though, nothing I can think of sounds awfully exciting at idle. Even our beloved Italian exotica -...
I'm totally with you. And I'm sure if Lamborghini delivers on the 800 hp speculation, it will be clearly reflected in the price tag. So far, here's the closest thing to a road legal 800 hp N/A car that I can think of. Enjoy!

It will be astonishing if they could squeeze 800 hp out of an N/A motor in a road legal car. If so it will be as close to an F1 engine in a street car as it gets. So far Ferrari, Lambo and SRT are the only top brands that I can think of that cling to the N/A recipe and try to stay competitive...
Lambo's supposedly upping the ante with an SV Aventador. 800 hp, better aero, better tires. Should get interesting.

The only recorded time I could find on the current Aventador is a 7:25 with...
So sorry to hear, hope you have fully recovered! 10.61 is wicked fast. Sounds like she has 10.50's in her on a good day. Congratulations on having one of the fastest sickest Gen IVs around!
Congratulations on a very tastefully and beautifully performed transformation of your snake! This is the best rear wing I've seen on a vert yet, mostly because it nicely follows the lines and doesn't look out of place at all. I think the only thing missing to complete the ACR-ish presence is the...
I think that means that they actually work :) From what I've read they should be used in combination with your radar detector. If you are the first car to get hit with a laser, your detecor will go off just to tell you that you'll be getting a ticket. With a jammer (if you are the first car to...
:) I've only had my lowly Gen III for a year and have barely flirted with its limits - and boy was that fun! I've heard that once you learn how to safely reach those limits, the enjoyment becomes an addiction worse than (and probably more expensive than) cocaine...
I know for sure that this...
