Put on 500+ solid miles of driving, including multiple hard accelerations in pretty warm 85+ high humidity weather, after having Roanoke Dodge put in Pennzoil Ultra 0w40 in my 2005 (big thank you to John Gastman who treated me like the sultan of Brunei while I was there and showed me all the Gen V **** toys inside and out - what a great guy).
I got exactly what I was hoping to see - a notable (5+ psi) increase in oil pressure both at idle and at throttle, so I'm very pleased with this new factory oil so far, compared to the ...w30 Mobil1 that got changed out. Since '05 and '06 Gen III's have the revised main bearings with significantly lower oil pressure at idle (25-35 psi), I used to feel nervous every time the needle dipped slightly under the 1/4 mark on the oil pressure gauge usually under breaking after a hard acceleration before stabilizing right on the 1/4 mark at hot idle. With the new oil the lowest I've ever seen it dip down to is the 1/4 level and it stabilizes at least 4-5 psi above it at hot idle. At throttle I get 60+ psi which also seems higher than before. Car drives great.
I guess I'd get even higher pressure with Mobil 15w50 but that's typically recommended mostly for track duty. Anyways, bottom line is I'd recommend the new factory oil especially to 2005 and 2006 owners, and I know SRT says it's safe for all Viper generations.
