Re: Potential buyer...differences in \'98-99 GTS?
Pick your favorite color first. Different color combos will determine the year in most cases. Go the the registry link for a breakdown of colors by year. Good luck and take your time. The right car is out there; your job is to find it.
Bump. I have thought the same thing for a long time. Driveline loss should be constant figure for a given vehicle, not a % of observed HP. OK all you dyno experts, what are your thoughts?
I want to visit CAAP before they start the changeover to VGX. Is there a good time in the next couple of months that might also allow a Viper/automotive related side trip in the area? Air fares are good right now and they should appreciate the business.
Also, what day of the week is best to...
Re: Rebuilt 98\' Viper GTS value?
The key to selling will be honest disclosure and lots of photos. Vipers get totaled quite easily due to parts costs. Plenty of before photos as well as during repair photos will go a long way to helping it sell. All that said, I'd expect $10-$12,000 off current...
Not sure about stainless but wrapping steel headers will shorten their life. The extra heat will cause cracking. Wrapping may also void any header warranty. Best to ask mfg.
How hot is it running and at what speed? I run at the middle mark on the guage on the freeway. It will get barely beyond the middle group of marks in traffic on hot days. I've been told that is normal with the stock fan.
Remove the muffler at the rear and replace it with straight tubing. Pick up a little power....lose a little weight....gain a lot of nice sound. Do it yourself for $10.00 or pay Midas to do it for $100.00. Best improvement for the money you'll ever find.
Does anyony have any experience having the 96 wheels polished or chromed? What were the results? How much did it cost? I'd like to equal the shine on a 2000 wheel.
Keep temps down. Disconnect the engine computer for a minute or so after one of the runs. Make a few full throttle run ups before you get to the dyno shop. Have fun.
Re: Do I HAVE to buy a 96\' manual?
I have been told the 97 manual is better for a 96 than the 96 manual. The 96 manual was put together before the car.
Just a wild suggestion....check or bypass the clutch pedal switch. Maybe it's defective. I once had a bad fuse that would check OK for continuity but not flow enough voltage to run a radio.
If wing design has caused cracking and other problems I would expect the "offended party" to let us know. Any one out there with problems? If so, give us the details and name names.
Re: Ideas on daily driver - I\'ve confused myself
KidZ06, you mention American big block torque when praising the Volvo??? What kind of big block was it you are familiar with?
How does it feel? That's the real question. Would you do it again if you bought another Viper? I'd expect this to be great for seat of the pants feel. What's your impression?
A two post lift is fine for work but not recommended for a storage lift. The suspension is not designed to dangle the wheels etc for weeks on end. I would also wonder about the strain on the body and frame from carrying all the weight on the lift points.
If you are going to stack two cars you need the height of the two cars plus about 8" for a four post lift. A 10 foot ceiling will not let you stand fully upright under the car to work on it but it's close. Get a jack bridge for the lift so you can remove tires etc. Mine is from Autolifters.

Don't forget a car cover unless you know where you will be staying and they have a garage. I drove mine from San Fran to New Mexico. Only problem is road construction. There is always an idiot that wants to throw gravel everywhere.
Re: \"96 GTS Bucking!
Help, I thought all GTSs had a single throttle cable and were immune from the throttle sync problem. My car is #767 and uses one cable and a solid shaft between throttle bodies. I did find that I couldn't get full throttle without elongating the cable bracket. Did early(?)...
