    Kumho ECSTA V700

I've had these on my mostly stock GEN I for several years. I usually get about 5-7k miles out of them which is more than they're supposed to last. Then again, I haven't had any track days for quite a while. I will say that while they have tremendous grip when they're warmed up, they're almost...

    Gen I Windshields

Does anyone now of a source for original, unused GEN I windshields? I've already contacted JonB and his source only seems to have used ones that they want to take out of a junker. I'd rather avoid that if possible as I can't imagine they can be removed without at least some (possibly...

    Bucking Viper....Yee Ha

When I bought my '94, I loooked at several Vipers and most of them had the bucking problem. When I found mine, it had absolutlely no bucking at all which was a factor in why I bought this one (more on this later). After owning it for a few weeks (and driving it extensively with no hint of...

    T-Rex killed by GEN 1.

They go 130 MPH and have a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds. Given that, he should have taken a better lead from the line but I guess the Kumhos help the Viper put the power down much better at the low end than the stockers. As far as safety, the T-Rex is probably only slightly safer than a...

    T-Rex killed by GEN 1.

Smooth tubes, K&N's, Kumhos. He got a 2 foot lead (meaning his front wheels were 2 feet ahead of mine) and kept it up to about 90 but ran out of breath. By 120 he was two lengths back. Now we know.

    VA Vipers

I'm in Alexandria too. Brap, are you the one who works in/around Kingstowne? I'm in Mt. Vernon.

do you think this product actually works??

These have been around for a long time and have always been considered bunk. If it doesn't help your gas mileage, I hear it also functions as a penis enlargement device.

HELP!!! Body shop might get this wrong....

I would tell whoever ordered that rim to return it and get you the right rim. You might just polish them all and find they don't match anyway. Why go to the trouble when this is someone else's fault?

Is this Rice at its finest ?

Someone should make a functional one that can be closed at will. This couldn't possibly be too hard to fabricate.

If you remove your fuel injectors, you MUST replace the o-rings

Engine oil? It's very odd that the manual would recommend that as it's usually a no-no to use any type of oil on a seal that may be (even partially) natural rubber. I imagine these o-rings may be a special compound but I'd still use silicone. I've removed mine a couple times (not all of them)...

Went autocrossing with my new Kumhos

I've been running nothing but Kumhos on my Viper for years now and have never had any excessive air loss. I've probably added air once in the summer and once in the winter. I check it about every week. I also did NOT have them shaved or heat cycled. You don't need this on tires used for the...

car show pics from NYC. AUTO SHOW

I like the picture of the Lotus where it looks like it barely comes up to the belt line of the Rolls. Probably about accurate. The Lotus probably weighs about as much as the Rolls' bare engine block. ;)

    Door speaker stopped working?!

The Gen I's have the same setup and the same problem. The part number for the harness is different though, of course. One other side-effect of this is that the electric seat belt retractors will not work in an accident if the wires are broken. There is a mechanical retractor too but they're...

    Jenna Jameson Viper

The Jameson car had a custom-made speaker box built for aftermarket speakers between the seats. I think it had blue leather to match the interior. Ask if this car has the stock center woofers or aftermarket ones to see if this is authentic.

    WTD: Gen1 stock exhaust

Re: WTD: Gen1 stock exhaust Probably the best thing you can do is just go to another facility. They may not even run the db test.

    Hawaii Vacation Time

Ok...here's how we make this thread Viper related. There is a car rental place in downtown Honolulu that has several GTS's for rent. They didn't have an RT/10 when I was there (how ironic). The price is about $800 a day or $1200 for the weekend, if I recall correctly. --Rob

    Door speakers stopped working.

This happened twice on my car. The wiring harness will look perfectly fine from the outside. If you cut into it, however, you will probably find that the wires are cleanly broken at the point where they pivot when the door opens and closes. In mine, ALL of the wires were broken in the exact...

How do I pull out the passenger seat on my '94?

Re: How do I pull out the passenger seat on my \'94? Moving the lower cushions is easy but the back cushions are a real pain to get re-attached.

    Suspension/Alignment and front-end noise

Actually I think the tools that Ulysses found would work perfectly. Where'd you find those? As for calculating the change in torque when moving the fulcrum, I don't think it's that simple. I just wrote two pages of explanations and formulas trying to figure it out but deleted it when I...

    Suspension/Alignment and front-end noise

I thought about that. A crow's foot would work but it would change the torque reading because it introduces a lever effect.

    Suspension/Alignment and front-end noise

Well, after about a year of getting a really annoying creeaaak sound from the front end when I took off, I finally found the culprit. Turns out when I took my car to have the alignment done, the shop (a 5-star dealer in Orlando) failed to tighten ANY of the suspension bolts back to spec...

    rotten eggs

The rotten eggs smell is usually a sign of a failed catalytic converter. We get it all the time with Mercedes. The thing is, I think my father said it can be from the cat being clogged. I'm not sure why. You might want to check the rest of the exhaust. I read about one particular bend that...

    Painting the dash

I'll be doing this soon but I'm interested in reporducing the original look of the dash. So far I've heard that the styrofoam-like material that was sprayed onto the dash and then painted over is no longer available. If anyone has info on how to reproduce the original look, post it here. --Rob

The other question is: has anyone figured out if the GEN II clutch pedal box will bolt into a GEN I?
