That would be a possibility, but it seems then the only answer would be that upon starting the car up with the newly installed headers the cats were instantly destroyed since the car had cool side sills when taken in originally . No other engine mods were done, just the header install. As i said...
Has anyone ever measureed the inlet air temp thru here? My viper tech did a rain baffle delete and covered the hole with metal sheeting. Since the airbox is right above the radiator where the metal was installed, it seems to super heat the inlet air. At Idle on a 60 degree evening I put a...
Dave, The car didn't have a sc or throttle bodies on it for 7 months after the headers went on. so in fact my setup was just like yours for those 7 months. The first 15 minutes upon leaving the shop after installing the headers only (my corsa and random techs had been on for car for nearly a...
Dave-are your headers coated? I got his first set and they were sprayed with a coating, but they are not the jet hot coating as originally promised. Which cats do you have? I have the gutted ones now and before that random techs. With the headers the only change made , sills got hot with random...
Mike, did they strip yours all the way down? Because of the crack in the nose itself it had to be stripped bare, repaired, and painted. I would imagine the stripes added to the cost as well. You're right though, for the money it should have been done right the first time or at least the 2nd time...
The PCM has had a year to adjust so I think that isn't a factor. I do have popping, ever since the car had the corsa put on. With the blower there is more of it.
Is it possible the headers themselves are creating the heat?
To those who added headers to their viper, I am wondering if you noticed if the side sills got hotter , cooler, or stayed the same temperature after you put them on. If you could mention the brand of header, if it's coated at all, and if you also changed the rest of the exhaust too it would be...
Does anyone have a good reccomondation for a body and paint shop in the San Francisco Bay area-specifically near Pleasanton if possible?
I just had the front nose of my car repainted by a shop subcontracted out by my viper tech-blue with white stripes and it cost 1250 bucks. The paint was...
I got the unitrax halfshafts and are very happy with them on my sc viper. I would rccomend them highly and it seems most people upgrading halfshafts have gone with unitrax.
On the plus side none of the vettes 9( and their were a lot) I saw broke nto the 12's except except for a sc Zo6 that i saw that night, so dean you did wel against them.
Re: Here\'s how we eliminate idle hang when needed....
My idle hang was so bad that one day I was cruising down a winding hwy at about 60mph. I would let off the gas and the car would start to slow down then accelerate back up to 65 mph on it's own. Just driving around town normally with...
thanks guys
I thought about the hole cut out-but past posts gave it mixed reviews
Bruce did you put it at the footwells on the engine compartment side?
Hi Sean. Air was on fresh and not using the ac, just vents. The box was not insulated but I was planning on using the thermotec sheets to insultate the airbox and was thinking of trying to put some sheeting between the engine and bulkhead wall. Got any pics?
Re: Here\'s how we eliminate idle hang when needed....
Sean, I tried this tonight and the car could barely idle. Should I continue to drill bigger holes and if so by how much each time?
I hope this helps as my idle hang is pretty nasty (almost like the cruise control Dodge didn't put in)
About a week ago I posted "I'm melting" in my viper. Tonight I drove it again and took some temperature readings.
Parked with engine idling over a 10 minute span of taking readings
Ambient outside air temp 62 degrees, temp gauge reads just past 190 to 1st mark, but fan cylces on to keep closer...
Re: H E E E L L P . . . .I\'m melting!
Sean. I haven't had the chance to pull the sc off again. Since I don't have the funds to pay Valaya for an install again, I will pull it off myself to try the removal of the post like you suggested. I just need to find time to do the uninstall and install...
Re: H E E E L L P . . . .I\'m melting!
Thanks for the input Luc. We already swapped injectors around and still it's always number 10. We also checked valve clearences, did a leak down test for worn parts, checked for spark, replaced valve springs on #10. I have to assume ig timing is okay as...
Re: H E E E L L P . . . .I\'m melting!
Hugh, we did a leak down test already to check to see if there was any valve guide wear. Engine checked out fine so I think the guides are okay. Also replaced valve springs on number 10 in case a spring was weak or broken. Still no change
about the...
