Re: Can we dispel the \"poor handling Viper\" myth?
you know, someone above mentioned novice driver. i put myself in that category. i haven't gotten my car on a track yet though i did do the skip barber viper autocross school.
i think what it boils down to is everyone knows that an...
the viper draws attention to itself pretty readily. i originally wanted a silver gts as i thought it would fly under radar and look a bit more refined. I though i'd never want a black car with the dust, maintenance issues. I've changed my opinion on black since purchasing my red acr 6 months...
A suggestion.
I use the todays active topics feature fairly exclusively when "browsing" the site. I know it is reset at midnight US Central time. I think it would be more helpful if it was changed to "Current Topics", reflecting the last 24 hours. I think it will encourage more posts and...
fyi.
I provided to Chrysler a copy of my recall notice, receipt and a letter indicating i was doing so and that i was excercising the option outlined in the letter to collect on previously arranged repairs. It was a 7 working day turnaround before receiving my check!
I want to extend a big...
fyi. got my check from chrysler today for the teamtechs i previously purchased. i'm going to call my dealer and see what they have to say. Excellent turn around by Chrysler by the way!

uhm, what i really meant was a question whether there is the possibility of extending to the rest of the viper owners what just original owners on record, currently still on record with chrysler got this year, an ability to have a preferred opportunity to order, then pay whatever it is those...
forged pistons changed to cast.
cam valve overlap changed from 66 to 60 degrees.
acrs have higher capacity oil pan.
for other differnces, color, etc. see:

how about whether current viper owners who didn't buy new will have some kind of program for them to get a 2004 srt at $500 over invoice. seems only fair.....
Jason
why limit yourself to 2000 or later. the 1999 model had all the creature comforts (minus abs) plus forged forged pistons and a mildly more aggressive cam. I like the 99 due to this, plus i like its shifter and door handle erognomics. the rear hatch access latch is also nice to have though...
been working on my viper differences page quite a bit lately. plenty of references back to this site, working with viperjay to incorporate here.
don't think there have been any changes in the bolt wheel pattern though, ;^). check it out.

Re: Differences between \'99 and later ACR\'s....
see:
http://www.thomasser.org/viper.
there were some significant changes 1999 to 2000.
Viper related:
forged pistons changed to cast pistons
cam mellowed
ACR related:
shocks change from koni's to dynnamic suspensions
spring rates changed...
i'm thinking i might make the drive from the bay area. this show is awesome. i've attended before. it would be a fun drive in my acr. Anyone from the bay area considering going down? I'm thinking of leaving friday around 11am from santa cruz and attending saturday. it would be fun to hook up...
probably the battery if you haven't been driving it much. happened to mine on a car 2 years old with ~4500 miles on it.
new battery (replaced under warranty) did wonders.
jason
p.s.
hit the unlock button. when the battery dies or is close to dead weird things happen with the security system...
that gts above is a smokin deal. dan cragin has an excellent reputation. the tires are 1100-1300. the exhaust is a must have upgrade (though opinions vary on manufacter), with headers upwards of 5K (installed). if i hadn't picked up my acr 6 months ago i'd be all over it.

Hi fellow recallees:
I received my seatbelt recall notice. Notification No. 979.
I notice at the bottom of the card on the left part of the card a number:
000098
I'm wondering if this number is unique and may be an indicator of the build sequence for my ACR. Can anyone elaborate. Is your...
there was no abs change in 2002 other than a part number change. compared side by side the parts are the same.

best thing about driving my viper....
really, **accidently**, getting sideways into 2nd. reminds me there is plenty more to let loose!
the confidence knowing that there is virtually nothing on the road that gives me the performance driving options the viper does.
