Re: whos riding on 19
Your most welcome.
You know my first sports car (sort-of) was a Triumph GT6, that was in 1969, maybe 70. In 72 I was zipping around London in a V12 E-type (2+2). Since living in the US, most recently had a Z28, then 3 vettes (last one z06) and now this wonderful machine...
Re: whos riding on 19
Is your viper lowered? Thank youfor your response.
Hi Vipeuup
As far as I know, it hasn't been lowered...at least I know I haven't. The tires look great, especially the rears that look massive.
Just went outside with a tape. There is a lip at the front, a few...
Re: whos riding on 19
there is the number ZR19 on my tires so I suppose I must be riding on 19 inch wheels. Previous owner did a wheel tire upgrade.
Michelin

275/30ZR19 96Y
rear
345/30ZR19 105Y
Take a look at www.feviper.com
It's a site dedicated to the FE model. Shows some history and where each (or at least most) are presently located, who the owners are and any upgrades done to the vehicle.
I bought mine right before the factory warranty expired and first thing I did was get...
Alas my lack of knowledge of cars (although been driving sports cars since 1969), doesn't help in making these decisions.
That's exactly why posting on Viperclub is so very helpful. You get different viewpoints on the same topic based upon a wide variety of poster experiences.
I am...
Do you advise to leave it alone because increasing the hp to about 550-600 would require more frequent servicing? or for other reasons.
Not a response I was expecting but one I should apparently think about carefully.
Want 100 or so hp increase on 2002 GTS. Will a heads/cam package suffice and if so...are there choices? Car has to remain my daily driver. Also since it's my only vehicle, don't want it in the shop all the time having to be tuned.
I purchased an extended factory warranty (100,000 miles) from my local Dodge dealer. So happens that this dealership is affiliated with a car racing company just a couple of miles down the road. The performance shop advises me to proceed with a heads/cam upgrade over a supercharger because 1...
Will that(heads and cam), have any effect on your daily driving, eg; loopy cam, bad gas milage, less reliable in extreme heat?
My guy says no to all above. Also the car's extended factory warranty will remain in effect
I cannot explain it because I know so little about cars but my guy was on the phone with Mr. Levin who reported this was the case, given my exhaust upgrades.
My guy advises that I proceed with heads and cam work that would give me about a 20-25% increase over stock horsepower and also fit my...
The performance place (near where I live) called Doug Levin and my guy was told that the present exhaust set-up would work against a supercharger...so my guy suggests headers and cam work... Also I don't have forged pistons.
Alas, I don't actually know how headers and cam work to increase...
I have a modest budget for horsepower/performance upgrade. Is there a way I can achieve 80-100 hp increase at a cost of $6k to $8k? Apparently due to the previous owner's exhaust upgrades, supercharging is not the best option anymore.
Or should I wait a little while...save up my pennies and...
Re: PRICES.. GTS\'s... will the SRTs drop below?
I placed pics of the 06 GTS and Z06 side by side. Disappointingly from many angles the two cars look very similar. The new Viper has to me lost some of its identity as an "in-your-face" brutish exotic sports car, and the coupe is no different. I...
Thanks for the ideas Tim. Really think my car has potential
Incidently..called my insurance agent and since the general use of the car is unchanged...insurance remains the same
I am actually thinking about placing ads on the car and have several local vendors interested. Sort of dress it up and give it a somewhat tame Nascar look, although it would remain a street car. I use the car daily. It would have to be tastefully done with removeable vinyl so that the car could...
supercharging Gen II which one???
Thanks for the feedback
Seems like the 2 industy standards for supercharging are the Roe and Paxton Novi SC units, for a Gen II. Also seems like just about as many supercharge with the Paxton as with the Roe versions. How do you base a decision on which...
Good morning all
Does supercharging or significantly increasing hp/torque by some other method, reduce the life span of the vehicle?
No intentions of tracking car. Still going to be my daily driver. Will put at least 15K miles per year. Just interested in a little more kick from time to time.
They are nameplates that replace the stock emblems. I took my car to a local body shop because I doubted my skills in applying them perfectly. The stock emblems pealed off quite easily. The whole process took less than 1 hour.
Inferno
I bought mine from Chuck Tators in New York. Very nice fellow and pleasure to deal with.
Got to admit....the blue/white combo of the 96/97 is absolutely gorgeous
I understand that the 2003 model has runflats and therefore tire pressure sensors. Is it possible to have the tire pressure system installed on a 2002 model and therefore runflats also? I have 19 inch wheels and 345/30ZR19 rears which are the same size, I believe, as those on a 2003 model.
Has...
I presently have Michelin Pilot Sport 345/30ZR19 as rear tires. Are there wider tires available for 19 inch rims and does anybody use them for everyday street driving? Are there pros and cons to these very wide tires?
Thanks
(learning a little bit more each post)
Hi there
Probably more is better but what is the minimal horsepower increase necessary to feel a difference in general performance? For example, is 50 hp enough or are the gains so minimal that more is needed to make a noticeable difference? This is for street driving only. Also at what...
