    Header collector gasket install

The hardest part for me is getting those plastic plugs out. I use a feeler gauge and a small screw driver. I just replace them if I damage them, so I don't waste a lot of time on them. I use a magnet to help get the screws started on install. You might find that some of the screws strip...

    Poly Transmission Mount Question

Agree with the last part about what preloading is, how the spacer accomplishes that, etc. But, don't agree with the first part, i.e. that is has nothing to do with which car... All the spacer is is a piece of metal of a given thickness. Assuming that we are trying to achieve a given spring...

    Poly Transmission Mount Question

Maybe someone can explain why we would all need the spacer? If we think of the mount as a spring, the spacer acts to load the spring. But, apparently all Vipers stackup a little differently, so the amount of preload will depend upon your car's stackup. If your car (mine is an 01) is tight, I...

    Header collector gasket install

I tip my hat to anyone who can change the gaskets without removing the sills. I quickly gave up trying and just removed the sills. The sills are not very hard to remove. Dave: Nice looking side exhaust! how much more noise in the cabin?

    Poly Transmission Mount Question

I got Dave's mount. I had the same problem with the spacer, but not quite as bad. I was hearing strange transmission noises, so I took out the spacer. The stackup was the same as stock without the spacer. The noises disappeared, and the feel is very good. Just finished a track day and all...

First time on the track: Advice?

Thanks to all the Illinois Club for showing me such a great time. It was interesting listening to the Roe vs. the NA cars. Too bad they were all so much better drivers than me! Maybe next time.. :D

Roe Clutch Lowering Kit - Guide & Photos

Just got finished with my installation. Went pretty much as Tony described here. One nasty surprise though. See the photo below. The "polished" section of the OEM link is where the link was rubbing the OBD cable. One wire in the cable had its insulation worn through and was shorting to the...

    2002 battery

I would DIY. You can get a very good battery at Wal-Mart for few $$$. If you have a decent jack / jack stands, this is a piece of cake.

    Helmet Recommendation?

For normal track days, what do you pros where? I know I need Snell SA, but full face vs. open? I have a GTS.

First time on the track: Advice?

Thanks Steve. Have been to Racer's Wholesale many times. Next question for all of you pros. A Snell 2000 helmet is required. Should I go for an open face model or closed? I don't see a need for a visor in a GTS.

First time on the track: Advice?

Thanks Steve! New clamps and hoses all around. What kind of tape? Thanks Crazy. Steve, is there a coolant requirement at Putnam?

First time on the track: Advice?

I'm going to Putnam Park on June 6th for my first track day. :D My 01 GTS has new fluids, upgraded brakes (SS lines) with new EBC reds, new PS Cups, and Forgeline wheels. I've got the PS vent tube, pinned crank, Roe fan upgrade, and Dave PS pulley. I've got Motul 600 put in last month. The...

Poly mounts and excess engine vibration

Thanks Tony. I have lost a little faith in Lou B. Too many of us have had problems with leaks. I think Lou makes a good product, but he should consider a redesign if only the "perfect" install succeeds without leaks. I put a turbo back exhaust on my Subaru STi in 2 hours and have never had a...

Poly mounts and excess engine vibration

Both of the two bolt flanges had leaks. That was a major dissappointment as I was careful as hell to follow Tony's advice. So, I went to Carquest and got the 8689 exhaust gaskets. So far, so good.

I think I may have found my car....need serious input

My 2 cents. Don't buy a Viper site unseen. I almost did and I would have made a HUGE mistake. Make sure you know what color you want. And stick to your goals. With a Viper, it is easy to get anxious and do something you will regret. Patience is a virtue.... And, call Chuck Tator before you...

Poly mounts and excess engine vibration

The mounts are dead on the original marks. The strange thing is I didn't have vibrations at all. Only rattles / clunks. Did I mention the car is strong as HELL! Don't get me started on the exhaust leaks. But, once I got them sorted out with some gaskets, I am stoked. :D

Poly mounts and excess engine vibration

I'm reviving this because I had somewhat the same experience as Ken. I didn't feel vibration as much as heard weird noises from the transmission area, even with the clutch in. Sometimes the noise was loud enough to be somewhat alarming. I had zero noise before the install. When I installed...

    Loosening hub bolt

Most of us get to this point. But, it is not as hard as some here are making it out to be. You don't need to remove a lot of stuff. I did mine by myself, with a little help standing on the brakes from the little woman, and it was difficult. The trick is to get a 3/4 inch drive wrench and a 3...
