When you first start the system up you should see bubble for the first 30 seconds to a minute or so. Then it should slowly clear up. If you look at the sight glass with the engine running and have someone turn the A/C on you should definitely see bubbles, if not, then you must be out. You may...
I agree with Rogue on the quality of Mobil 1. Most versions of Mobil 1 do not even meet the New European oil requirements for HTHS (high temp high shear). The 0W-40 barely makes (3.6 with 3.5 a requirment). All Redline oils make it with room to spare (all in the low to mid 4's). Dino oils don't...
On my '96 I went Catless with the newer Borla exhaust which has the side mufflers and the combined rear muffler. I just purchased some straight pipe from Racers Wholesale and had it ceramic coated and used some of the newer stainless band strap clamps from them also. The sills are much cooler...
Anyone have a specific model number so I know it has the right ends? Jack, what do you mean about the micrometer? Is that just to measure the adjustable pushrod length? Thanks, MGH
My vote is also on the Motive power bleeder. I have used it on Porsche's and Audi's for years and recently purchased the adapter from them a couple of months ago. Check out www.motiveproducts.com Pressure bleeding is a lot better than vacuum bleeding. MGH
I've been using Water wetter for about 15 years and have never heard of nor seen a corrosion problem. The Viper cooling system is fairly large so I also use two bottles with about a 30/70 coolant/distilled water ratio. MGH
Better start doing the obvious like have someone look at the tailpipe as you rev it up, look for leaks, check to make sure there isn't any oil in the coolant. My '96 only take between 1/2~1 quart between oil changes with 10W40 Redline every 4000 miles. MGH
Is your exhaust stock? I have a '96 RT/10 and I'm not sure if the exhaust is the same but I just put a new one on my car and if you can use part of mine it's yours? I live just South of Tacoma. MGH
I installed a out of productions set of Hooker Headers along with the newer Borla cat back system (2xside mufflers & 1x combined rear muffler like stock). I then ordered some straight stainless and cut them to Cat lenght(17" I think), had them ceramic coated, then installed them as Cat...
Anyone interested in the balancer off my '96 RT/10? I am about to pull it off to install a ATI balancer. I purchased the ATI unit 3 months ago but with all this talk I'll go ahead and swap it out so I can check the bolt torque while I'm at it. MGH
I would first decide on which Headers you want then ask about the install for that type specifically as there is a bit of difference between the different brands and I assume your car for the install will be the '97 GTS? MGH
My '96 RT/10 has HIR (9011) High beams and 9005 low beams. I have read that some Vipers came with the HIR high beams and some with the 9005 High beams. My '96 factory shop manual lists 9005's for the High and 9005's for the low beams. The parts man at the local Chrysler dealer confirmed the...
I just installed a set of the Gold plugs in my '96 RT/10 but I also just installed Magnecor's, headers, cat bypass's, and a Borla exhaust. The car has more power obviously due to the mods so I can't say about the plugs, but it still starts and idles well. Look to be of better quality than the...
Re: need USED parts?? check with us in the
I just took an old socket, I think about 5/8 or 17mm and ground off a little bit on opposite sides to leave two little nubs and it worked perfect. Stick it on an extension and push as you ratchtet it in. MGH
I am currently installing the new Borla system in my '96. I am also installing headers but deleting the cats while I'm there. I would imagine that with Cats it would definitely too quiet but without the Cats I'm hoping it will be just right. MGH
Boral has two Viper exhuasts now. The twin muffler #14663 and the four muffler #140049. I just purchased the later 140049 model and just installed it but am getting my Cat bypass pipes Ceramic coated (sill heat ruduction) along with newly installed (out of production) Hooker ceramic coated...
Don't bother with the hookers, quality control problems. Nice Ceramic coat but the flanges are a little thin, and the left collector O2 Sensor bung is at the wrong angle. I can't get my O2 sensor to work as the top part interferes with one of the frame braces. I have removed the collector and...
Do not use Hooker headers if you find a set. Just installed a set on my car and their were some quality control problems with them. Hooker already quit making them and will not stand behind their product so I am stuck with them and will spend more time and money to make them work. MGH
Since the Hooker Headers are ceramic coated and I have Magnecor I will try them without the little metal shiels but will probbaly at least buy the socks for the wires. Without the metal shields it will be easier to get the plug socket on the plugs. Thanks for all the replies. MGH
