I was always under the impression that as long as a tube of RTV sealant was factory sealed/unopened, it was still good. It was an eye opening experience for sure...hopefully I can keep others from making the same mistake.
Before you replace it, try Goo Gone or Goof Off to remove the sticky stuff. This is a commonly reported issue with older Gen Vipers - it's the plasticizers leeching out of the material.
Lesson 2 - Check the Dates
Moving forward, I knew two things for certain:
1. I was not going to be putting 3.73s back in my Viper
2. I wanted to make sure nothing else broke inside the case when I sheared off the OS Giken output stub
So with a grand total of 523 miles since its last rebuild...
P2601 or P2610?
I've not encountered P2601, but P2610 will get thrown if you either disconnect the battery for too long or if the battery is dead. P2610 should clear on its own after a few drives.
If it is P2601, you'll need to provide more details...all mods to the car, and what the car is...
Website changed: https://connectorrepairkit.mopar.com/
On the drop downs, select 2009 for the year, and then pick ZB:Viper for the platform. 2010 doesn't have the Viper for some reason, but they should be the same.
The PCM pin-outs are "Module-Powertrain Control" C1 through C4.
I’ll share my own experience with the service manual, but keep in mind that the electronic version I currently have in my possession may be quite different from what you received for Christmas.
The 2010 service manual I was gifted a few years back from another Viper owner has a pretty...
This site currently isn't working (hopefully temporary), but outside of the electrical service manual, it's as good as you are going to find:

The data in this thread is all over the place, so let's clarify.
You are selling Gen 2 idle air control (IAC) valves, part number 4778637AB.
The Gen 3 idle air control valve is still available (part number 05245352AC), but will not work in a Gen 2, hence why you had the Gen 2 IAC valves...
If you do the work yourself, I'll warn you in advance that it is time intensive, and requires some specialty tools that you may or may not already have on hand.
Due to the time and effort required, I would recommend replacing all bearings and seals while you are in there. You'll be extremely...
Do any messages pop up in the odometer?
From experience, a low tire pressure warning will make a chime, but it'll also pop up a low/flat tire warning in the odometer. TPMS light may or may not turn on depending on whether or not the bulb has burned out.
You state that you are not looking to sell them, but the rest of your posts (and your join date) suggests otherwise.
Just be aware that it may raise flags for some - it certainly does for me, but others probably don't care.
The materials themselves aren't valuable, but the story may very well...
Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Or in this case, your Viper because of the transmission.
But I also wouldn't recommend blindly throwing parts and labor at a potentially complex problem like this one without thoroughly understanding the underlying cause. The transmission case...
Same. Park it, put it on a tender, and leave it be. Having personally witnessed what salt can do to a frame (my daily driven truck), I always err on the side of caution when it comes to getting it out to play from December through about March, sometimes later.
Thanks!
One of the most common questions I received at the track was "does it have traction (or launch) control?" My snarky response was always "yeah, my right foot." I think it was generally understood that Vipers can be a handful, and most had respect for the fact that I was the biggest...
The gentleman that drove the Chevy truck was one of the track regulars - he was there every single time I managed to show up at a Thursday night test and tune.
He gave me many pointers over the years, and is who helped me work through the issues I was having when I switched from a Mickey...
Sounds like a regulator issue to me. My first stop would be the PowerWindowRepair.com folks to see if they can repair what you have.
The regulators are poorly designed, and have been a failure point for most Vipers from 2003-2017. Someone many years ago was able to retrofit a totally...
Lesson 1 - 3.73s Were Not Ideal For Me
I originally chose 3.73 gears for drag racing. I’d been using 3.55s with a 26” tire (Hoosier 335/30-18 DR2) for a few years, and I always felt like the car was just starting to pull really hard after I went through the traps in the quarter mile (trap speeds...
I learned many lessons during my first differential rebuild, and I continued to learn many lessons afterward. I'll do my best to capture these in my next few posts.
