Road America / Elkhart Lake, Wi 7/20

Is anyone going to be at the vintage sports car races at Road America this weekend? The evening sports car show & auction in Elkhart Lake are also great. I plan to meet up with other friends at 7:15pm on 7/20 in the main lobby of the Osthoff for dinner & laughs. Hope that a few Viper folks can...

For all those that said the new Viper looks like a Camaro.....

Many of us have already expressed our extreme dissatisfaction over the design of the 2003 Viper Convertible. This is just more proof of how big of a design failure DC has made. When it looks so much like other cars & other cars can easily be made to look like it, the Viper has lost it's...

    Motor Rebuild

When you are taking delivery of the car make sure that you fully inspect it BEFORE driving away. Have the dealer put it up on the hoist and check for fuel, oil & antifreeze leaks with the motor off & running. Also check the lower edge of your windshield, above the motor for any chips or cracks...

Paging Bill P or Jon B or ? RE: New Style GTS

I understand that the new GTS was killed at least 6 mo. ago. DC stopped all development including any consideration for racing it again. It is dead and my never be built due to high costs which they may never get a return on with a low production car. This is no longer Chrysler Corp. with Bob...

Lookin to buy a Viper 92-94

I agree that THE Viper to own is the RT/10. Their one major problem is the head gasket anti-freeze leaks. Inspect the car that you might want to buy from under the motor. Look for any traces of leakage on the side of the block. If you see anything, look for another car. Your best situation might...

is this a good price for a '93? or could something be wrong?

Re: is this a good price for a \'93? or could something be wrong? Get under the car and check the sides of the block for any trace of antifreeze leakage from the head gaskets. If you see any leakage, don't buy it. Look for one without any sign of leakage or find a car that has already been...

    Dodge reliability concerns-

Vipers are GREAT cars! BUT some of their dealers and Chrysler support is not! They have both put me through hell! Proceed with caution. Interview the folks at several dealerships prior to selecting which to buy from. Talk to their owner, service manager and Viper tech's. Tell the what your...

What's your other car? (this might be fun)

Re: What\'s your other car? (this might be fun) My other beauty is a 1990 Plymouth Voyager with 187,000 miles. All of the blue paint has peeled off of the roof (alot of rust showing) and hood with several yellow lemon shaped stickers which say "Painted by Chrysler". It is such a joy to know...

    Which battery for '94 RT/10?

Re: Which battery for \'94 RT/10? Don't waste your money on anything special. I bought mine at Sam's Club. They have a Champion battery with side connections which has ~700amps with a top plastic handle. Cost ~$45. It has slightly smaller external dimensions and can easily be installed or...

    Vette too little...too late

Great observation. I have felt this way from day one on the Z06. The real benchmark for it is our Gen I Viper. I am happy that the Z06 is out because it represents another great car for sportscar fans. Yet we hear from all of the media and Mr. Dave Hill himself claiming that Corvette has now...

    92R/T will not run.

All the above are good suggestions and have worked for me in the past but this may be the "Jeff Young Problem". He tried everything to get his 94 to run and finally found that his fuse # 7 (25 amp) was bruned out. It supplies power to the remote entry receiver and also controls the cigarette...

Is the A/C in a 93-95 Viper cold?

The AC in my '93 is adequate in our northern climate. I doubt that you would be totally satisfied in your area. The best way to enjoy the RT/10 is with the roof off, then it won't matter.

3 days old and motor bad - advice?

Even if it gets fixed, who the hell would want a rebuilt ~$70K car??? DC should get involved and take that piece of crap back and return you your money. (I assume that you had nothing to do with causing the problem). Good luck but it think that you are screwed! You may have to live through it...

Customer Service...Is it too much to ask ??

Don't waste anymore of your time with this dealer. Write it off! There are many very poor "Five Star Dealers" out there. The DC rating is worthless. Keep trying others until you find one that is programed correctly with GOOD Viper Techs. Good luck, VardaMan.

    bad head gasket

Make sure that the dealer that is going to pull & reinstall your motor has a Viper Tech who has done it MANY times before! ONLY let an experienced Viper Tech touch your car! My local bonehead "Five Star" dealer broke my windshield (which they blamed me for), broke my heater airbox and then...

The 2003 Viper hits the press:

That 2003 hood scoop has got to go! It looks like DC copied the one on the Ferrari 550. It does not flow well with the body lines of the Viper or the shapes on the top of the hood. The side scoops look like the side of the Ferrari 456. I like Ferrari's and Viper's but not on the same car...

    Unhappy with Dodge Customer Support

Bob isn't the only guy to feel upset. I was dragged thru hell by my local "Bonehead 5 Star Dealer" and the little boys & girls on the DC 800 line. After about 12 months and $500 of my money all of everyone's mistakes were finally fixed (I hope?). I doubt that I will ever buy another Chrysler...

    Sell '01 or '02s

Re: Sell \'01 or \'02s Since no one is saying when a Gen III GTS will be made, I would think that those who prefer the coupe, should consider buying a 2001 or 2002. Just my thoughts, VardaMan.

Stupid question but, is there a 2003 convertible and roadster?

The definition of a Roadster in the "Dictionary of Automotive Terms" is ".....open type body.....luggage compartment in the rear deck......the weather proof fabric top may be folded down and side curtains may be removed". The Gen II RT/10's had the roof but did not have side curtains that were...

    Viper longevity

Ron, I agree that GM would love to see the Viper dead. The Auto Week article does give the Z06 some deserved credit but ignores the reality that it is still the second best US sports car. They are now competitive with our Gen I cars. GM may need their 7 liter C5-R motor to put the Corvette back...

    Justin Bells Vipers

Skip Barber has used Vipers in their driving school and did so in 2000. Check with them for another option.

    Daytona Rolex 24

The race dates are Feb. 3&4, 2001. Watch for a listing on Speed- vision or ESPN. Chamberlain Motorsports was there several times in the past. Last year they had 2 GTS-R's there. I hope that they will return this year.

    Daytona Rolex 24

Will there be any Vipers participating in the Feb. 2001 race? The C5-R's will be there to win the class which will happen without a Viper challenge. Is Oreca out of this one? Thanks.

Johnny Lightning Club Car is a GT-2 and Pewter GTS

The GTS-R car is excellent and a must for all Viper toy nuts. They made a mistake on the pin and card calling it a 1997 instead of a 1998 model. I called this error to their attention but JL did not care. They said that Dodge told them that it was a 1997. Looks like a dumb and dumber situation.

Head gasket question, I want it fixed perfectly! HELP!

Steve, follow Janni's advice. Call Tom Sessions! He knows it all and is a great person! Avoid the amateurs at all costs! My personal experience with my local "Five Star Boneheads" was a disaster.
