Hey all, my apologies I haven't posted as of late, the band has been busy, and work has been hectic. During the winter, I was up at a do-it-yourself car wash in my area and this lady came in, washing her Porsche 911. We spoke, told her I do detailing in the summer, so she asked for my name and number. This was in February.
Fast forward to now, I got a call two weeks ago, asking when I can come by, and "By the way, I also have a 2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Copperhead that needs a good cleaning." I went over, took a look at the Viper, and all I had to say was "NOOOOOOO!!!!!" In my eyes, a Viper shouldn't have water spots, dust and other crap on it. I came back to her place last week to do the car, and it took 7 hours, but it was worth it.
WASH: Towel under hood, light spray, Meguiars Gold Class soap, lots of soap...lots of suds. NO SOAP ON CONVERTIBLE TOP. I also used a sheepskin wash mit from Simoniz...It had a red Viper on it so it had to be used for a Viper
DRY: Leaf Blower. Thanks for sharing that tip. I also used one of those self-absorbant drying towels.
PREP FOR WAX: Meguiars Clay Bar Kit. To lubricate the finish and the clay bar, I used the Meguiars Mist Detailer. This thing works wonders! It brought the shine back to the paint...showroom condition.
WAX: I used the Meguiars Yellow Wax, and Zymol. This thing looked so beautiful, but it wasn't done...
TIRES: Meguiars (I forgot what they call it) Tire shine. It's a gel, sold with a special applicator.
WHEELS: Meguiars Hot Rims wheel cleaner. Those Sidewinders looked amazing!
BLACK PLASTIC EXHAUST TIP SURROUND: I used a bit of Armor-All as it did the trick.
After all was done, she looks at my bag full of goodies (the bag with all my cleaning supplies) and asks if I'm endorsed by them or just a brand loyal *****. I told her, "Just a brand loyal *****." I try to keep everything one way...one brand of strings on my guitars, one brand of washing supplies for cars.
The best part of it all, was a whole day with a Viper and a ride home in a beautiful car. Unfortunately this picture was taken with a BlackBerry phone, in poor sunlight.
